NNTN8845A IMPRES 2 SUC worked the first time! I used my TRBO programming cable (MOTO # CB000262A01) to connect NNTN8870A Fleet Management / Reprogrammer Module micro-USB to PC USB, have MSI Charger Reprogranner v1.3 open, THE APP see's ver in the app and upgrade exactly as shown in the video. THANKS!

I'll bet that adaptor is merely a USB to serial converter. The big old thing for the older six-way chargers was just a USB hub with a bank of USB to serial IC's. What Sentinel Dongle + FW update + License key do I need to put the charger back on the shelf? Its getting to the point where I need a monthly subscription to change channel.

Any idea why brand new Motorola APX 8000 batteries won't charge in bank charger or single charger? The bank charger display says "Not Chargeable, remove & reinsert". Some brand new batteries will charge, some won't.

What's the date code on the bottom. If impress batterys sit to long on the shelf the chip dies and they need a jump. I've gotten a few 2020 batteries thrown in with my 2023 batterys.

@@anongator The date codes are all the same "2129". Some batteries charge, some won't. Brand new out of the box. Is there a way to give them a jump back to life?

There have been multiple firmware updates in 2022-2023 that improve the ability for IMPRES 2 chargers to handle deep discharged batteries.

@straightpipediesel it's Definitely a needed thing. Especially with some of the ones they've sent out being from 21/22 and having dead impress chips

Is the program just for PC or do they have a Mac version? Also you have a one radio dock I have a multi unit charger is it the same to update? Can I harm the dock attempting to update it.?

PC only. And you can 100% update the gang chargers. Those I believe have a USB right on the back. No need for the external module. It's more recommended to update for the gangs then the singles

What about the multi unit though with the DB9 connector? Standard RS232 to usb?

If it's impress2 there should be USB directly on it. If it's impress 1 you need a whole other box

@@anongator Mine finally arrived today. I followed your link and installed the software, using the exact SUC you have I connected it but the program doesn't see anything connected. Are you sure you didn't need to install anything except MSI_CHARGER_REPROGRAMMER ?

Nope that's it. Just plug her in. Did you unplug and replug the charger after pluging in the reprogrammer. And make sure the USB cable your using can do data and isn't just a charger

Success! Switched from a Dell desktop running 10 to a Toughbook running 10 and it installed and detected my APX SUC was on 1.11 and could be upgraded to 2.06 so I did that and as you indicated, it works a treat. How can I identify an Impres 2 MotoTRBO SUC? I think most of mine are Impres 1. Thanks for your help!

Why would the charger need an update?

The impress SW inside can know about new model batteries that need different charge cycles along with new features for impress
