How to update Samsung Printer M2020 firmware

thank-you!!! I updated my m2020w for the first time since owning it for 6 years. Of course I use third-party ink and low and behold, latest firmware versions do not allow other branded ink. Re-flashed a 2014 version of firmware and I'm back in business.

Wow...even the PDF instructions that are bundled WITH the new firmware file dont mention putting the printer in any special mode. Thanks!. To everyone out there, theres no need to use the command prompt. Simply... 1.) Have the printer in firmware download mode. 2.) Have your PC connected via a USB cable 3.) Drag and drop the "hd" file on top of the "usblist2" executable file. That will initiate the whole process automatically. (It doesnt matter where these files are stored on your hard drive). 4.) BE PATIENT! It took a solid 2-3 minutes before my printer finally showed green and became usable to print. - On a side note....If you're updating the firmware hoping it will fix the network connection issues you're having, it wont. People have noticed that the printer stops showing as available to print after it goes into standby mode from inactivity. The only way to use it over the WIFI network is to disconnect/reconnect power quickly. When the printer turns on it's now magically visible on the network once more. The solution to this issue is to turn off DHCP within the printer settings and assign it a static IP. Of course you'll also need to assign that same static IP address within your router settings. For whatever reason using a static IP fixes that particular network issue.

This printer is fantastic if it is plugged into USB - using it over WiFi is horrendous. I've had it print once, twice, etc and then refuses to print again for the next two years. And then suddenly it will print. It sometimes loses the drivers and then you have to reinstall. There is no rhyme or reason why this piece of shit won't print.

Jesus christ thanks for making this video! I've had a ton of problems with my 2026w not maintaining a WiFi connection, it's been terrible the 2 years i've owned it. Tried firmware updates in the past and had no idea why I coudln't do it. The damn manual doesn't say you need to enter firmware download mode. Thanks so much again, hoping this fixes the WiFi issues.

@@mdptweety no in my experience it didn’t work so I ended up getting a brother that rtings recommended. It’s been rock solid stable and I can go months and months between prints and it’s so available on Wi-Fi when I need it

Please retry entering Maintenace mode. I think if you could enter maintenace mode you could successfully update the firmware.

Thanks. My printer was working only when she wants loool... Paper jams, start to print and restart the printer. After the firmware update it becomes to work again. I was trying but it was not working. Didn´t know that i should be in maintence mode :) Thanks!!
