How to Update the AV-30-C Software

😳 could you perhaps make this process a bit more complex?? How about WiFi update? How do we update the AV-30 when it’s already installed in our panel?

This will be my first update since buying the AV-30 a couple years ago. I really hope if fixes the screwed up artificial horizon.

That caused some problems for me saying the ground goes to the 9 pin on the db9 connector. It will not identify the AV 30 if you do this. Thought the error was my USB-Serial cable compatibility but it was this. I switched the pin and it worked smoothly. It needs to go to the DB9- 5 pin. DB15-8 pin to DB9-3 pin DB15-15 pin to DB9-2 pin DB15-9 pin to DB9-5 pin and shared with -12v. DB15-1 pin to +12V

These AV-30 are just a PIA. I tossed my old AH and DG when vacuum pump went and thought I would modernize with the AV-30. these updates are supposed to fix the problems but the precession is so bad the DG is useless. Need a magnetometer to make it functional..... added expenses.

Just called Rebecca, she says it is pin 5 in the DB9.

Hmmm... you did not say which pin on the 9-pin is the ground pin. Please clarify. Thanks

She didn't say. I spent an hour trying to figure out what pin. The split ground wire goes to pin 5 on the 9pin D connector. Hope that helps. She led me to believe that it was pin 9. NOT once I connected the ground to Pin 5. Worked!!! Good luck.

After 2 months there is no confirmation by UAvionix that the ground pin on the 9 pin connector should be number 5!
