I have this model of hp computer and tried swapping out and cloning my original m.2 with a new one that has 1tb of space on it. Long story short it didn’t clone over and had to install windows 10 again but I don’t have all this HP support stuff on it and it has been doing some funky things like not opening the windows “window”(?) Or other little things like the calculator sometimes haha. Also it always tries to make the 1tb hard drive the primary drive or something and I’m not sure what’s up with that, as if it doesn’t recognize the m.2 as the primary windows device sometimes. I’ll try installing the hp support info like this, it’ll probably fix a lot of issues, (I’m assuming?) thank you for your videos, they are extremely helpful and informative with great narration and production quality!
@accessrandom3 жыл бұрын
Thank you. It sounds like the two boot partitions are interfering with each other. When there are two of them in the system, I find that the BIOS/UEFI sometimes registers the wrong one. What you could do is physically remove the 1TB drive from the system and see if it boots properly from the SSD - if it does, you can wipe the HDD clean on another computer (if possible), then re-attach it to the HP in order to use it as secondary storage. I would recommend creating a rescue disk from Macrium Reflect in case you run into any problems though. I show how to do that in my cloning video.

Was the CPU fan rotating at all before? It sounds like the speed is being throttled for some reason (maybe the rpm of the fan is too slow). You may want to contact HP support directly to explain your problem with a specific BIOS update version and model number.

Product: Pavillion 14 Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-Bit) I updated my bios thru official HP page. I didn't get a power cut. How would I know if it is compatible to my HP Pavilion 14 and working properly. Does updating bios from f.22 to f.47 will give me issues in the future? My laptop is working well after I update it but I am scared to encounter damage and issues in the future, I updated it without flash drive and now it is updated but I am using the laptop now nomally. I am just scared because I thought that an update would be necessary but I realized that it is for hardware that late. Is my bios and motherboard fine that I can use my laptop so well today? Thank you for help.

f.47 provides enhanced security so I updated it and I just accidentally updated it. Am I lucky that the update was successful? I'm scared. Did I damaged my mobo?
@accessrandom3 жыл бұрын
If you're able to boot into your computer after the update and everything works as before, I think you'll be fine. In most cases, companies will test cumulative upgrades before releasing (especially something as critical as a BIOS update) - otherwise, they would probably mention it in the release notes. If you are in doubt, you could contact HP support directly.

I would just verify that you have the latest version as shown at the 2:21 mark, and compare that to the latest on HP's website. If they match, you should be ok. Instead of the manual method that i show in this video, HP's Support Assistant probably updated it for you.

I go through a hard time signing in. because the keyboard keeps typing[on it owns] these vertical lines and won't let me sign in. would that be a BIOS or drivers issue? awaiting reply. This sounds more like a Windows transfer issue, or possibly a Windows license issue (where licenses are not transferable between OEM machines).

Hello! Please can you help me because I'm at a real loss here... I've got an HP Pavilion 17 Gaming Laptop and try as I might I couldn't get it to update the bios. So, I have downloaded the BIOS update from HP website for my laptop model (carefully checked model serial), but it won't let me install it from windows (bitlocker and windows security disabled). I also tried several times the 2 nd option i.e. manually from a flash drive but upon reboot, after hitting the ESC key and getting into the menu with F1, F2, F9, F10 options there is no way anything like "update bios" or "firmware management" will appear. What am I doing wrong? :((
@accessrandom2 жыл бұрын
You may want to try contacting HP support directly - I noticed there were quite a few versions of the BIOS for some Pavilion 17 models. The only thing I can think of is for the Windows installer not working is that there's possibly some dependency on a previous version of the BIOS that requires an incremental update. Another alternative is to install Support Assistant and update it that way.
@bbbobbbo772 жыл бұрын
@@accessrandom Real thanks for your helpful reply - I did just that and the HP staff were really kind and acted so professionally, guiding me patiently and step by step till the issue was solved. No damage was done, thank God! So in case this helps someone else: First off when the BIOS update process failed, the laptop froze on the HP BIOS UPDATE display at 31 % on the progress bar, with full blast both fans, keyboard lit and... it stayed like that forever, nothing else ever happening. One hour later I tried to forcibly turn off the laptop but, alas!, the power button didn't work anymore... Being afraid to both unplug it or remove the USB memory stick out, I left it like that till the next day (so at that point I still hadn't removed the AC power charger or the memory stick with the BIOS update firmware, either), and still no change. It was the next day that I contacted HP support who first told me to relax as they were pretty sure neither the mobo nor anything else (e.g. the BIOS chip) had been broken. Next they suggested I should use Windows key + B key combination to restore the old BIOS firmware. The only thing was that in order for that key combination to work, the laptop had to be completely turned off, but as mentioned above, the power button was totally unresponsive no matter how many seconds I had it pressed (I had tried several times keeping it pressed down as long as 5 minutes, but to no avail!). Called HP support again, and this time around they advised me to remove the USB memory stick and unplug the laptop and leave it draining the battery out until completely shutdown, and only then plug it back in and attempt restoring the BIOS using windows + B combo. Before that, however, they suggested I should reset the CMOS using a similar combination - windows key + V. So I did the following: unplugged the laptop, removed the USB memory stick and waited for the battery to die out. When that was accomplished, I plugged the laptop back and attempted the CMOS reset as described above. To this moment I don't know if I really reset the CMOS, but it didn't matter anymore as the computer started with its old BIOS restored, and, as it seemed, everything was like before, working as it should! I don't know if this be the solution for other laptop brands and I hope no one will brick their hardware using the steps I did (especially the one where I unplugged the device and leave the battery to die out), but it seems modern laptops have improved protection and don't get bricked like they used to back in the day. Cheers all!
