this is a year old, but once install is completed you can remove the SD card.

negative power must be on the head unit, I wish it was only that simple

No it stops ,and resumes once car is started again, takes about 2 hours .Make sure you leave the sound card in until the update is totally complete.

You take it out once the update process is complete. It is better to turn off de system and then extract de card.

It is possible to update this radio firmware? I can’t change songs thru my radio, just with my cellphone. I am using iPhone 14 pro and spotify. It just wtitter “bluetooth” on radio’s screen without any buttons to change the track

yes, ignition needs to be on or mk6 running. if you turn off the mk6 the update will then resume until finished. merci

Hi, I have one friend who bought a Japanese imported Nissan Note 2014 car in New Zealand. The touch screen MC313D-W of that car needs an SD card to make it work. Is there any possibility that you can help to start a touch screen? is there any possibility to use a normal sd card or copy data for that card to start it. Please guide me. thanks in advance. Any help is appreciated.

That seems to be a long time - the maps on my TomTom GPS (it also came with lifetime free map updates) are about 3Gb in size and don't take that long to update, including download times.

For the people who don't know. You can update for free your maps using the Volkswagen discover care tool. You DON'T NEED to buy a new SD card each time a new patch comes out. Edit: It is better to use the zip file directly. The care tool sucks.

I tried the discover tool, but the only model they showed was the 'discover media', but I downloaded the suggested maps, and my RNS310 kept giving me an error message. Do you have any solutions?

@@Ocooooo558 the discover media tool sucks. Don't use it. Simply find the zip file that contains the map data of your area on the volkswagen page. Download it and replace the existing map data on your VW SD card with the new data. That's it. The operation is the same as copying and pasting data on a usb drive but in this case it is a SD card. Keep in mind to use your original VW card (the map version on it is irrelevant)

Can this option work for a new fresh SD card and not one which is bought from VW? I am I Germany and want to update on my used Passat from 2014. I tried the discovercare and it sucks. I always get sd card error. Original VW card costs 140 to 160 eur and I don't want to spend that much just for the card.

Is the SD damaged after the installation or can you re-use it again?

You can reuse it BUT only in the same navigator. The SD card gets attached to the navigator you installed de data because a code is written in the SD card (if the SD card is locked, the data won't be installed)

Your phone connects to the bluetooth, so you click on the phone button to scroll through your contacts to make calls etc

@@FlaVaYo I didn't buy a vw stereo, just a pioneer one and it was like £80. I know you can upgrade the vw one aswell to get the bluetooth but i'm unsure on how much that'll be. You'll have to contact their sales dept or go to the branch.

Yes - this can be done with a Samsung Evo plus micro SD, a PC or laptop running Ubuntu (Linux) and a bit of code. Updating my 315 now. :-)

You can download for free the maps and use normal SD card :)

What on Earth are you talking about? You can update the Volkswagen SD card for free with the latest map version (v12 atm). Just google it.
