From Dave: Hey all, I wanted to clarify something that I misspoke about. For many T5 named items, there is no need to upgrade them with umbral shards before the expansion. Any named items that we have updated to drop at GS625 post-expansion, will actually auto-upgrade to GS625 in your inventory. Note not all T5 named items will be updated to GS625 post-expansion, but most of the recent named T5s will. from nw yt channel

Yup. But getting BIS items are easier now. Once a week you get a item with the exact perks you want.

well I happened to have saved over 400 gypsum casts(weapons,jewellery, armor mixed)!! what to do with them ? open them to get 400 shards each and very few legendary ? Or does is have chance to give 700 gs items when opened after expansion ?

I have about 120 gypsum orbs now. I saved them for a while after I reached 625.

i wouldnt put the smooth bone ring in thumbnail, its very misleading. best way to describe this system is, if the item is named and is capable of going to 700, then you can force the 3rd perk and upgrade it to 700 edit: use NWBD in PTR section to search for 2 perk that you want, lock in attribute for your class (magnify is also a new attribute) and if it goes to 700, you can upgrade it later

So there are some named items that don't have the glowy effect. I think this is because some of them are older named items that didn't convert when they introduced the shiny effect in the game. Will these auto upgrade if upgraded with umbrals?

May have missed it, but I'm assuming this is only for purps, if you have a legendary(not 700) and its not working. I made a firestaff with materia, it rolled 700 and I can't change anythign about it.

Ok so I have named amulet that i picked up post expansion GS 648 and want to upgrade to 700 but it doesn't show up in named items list at gypsum kiln. It isn't equipped or in any gear set. What am I missing here? Update: in NWDB comments it seems this amulet (Lifering) is bugged for upgrading.

Anyone please help answer me very confused What about the Slayer of enemies weapon with a gearscore of 625 can it still be used after the expansion or all the items we have now will not be used? and I just wanted to make purple clothing equipment with perk Mining luck and Luck whether it will be used after the expansion or make it later after the expansion.

Don't salvage your named items till after the expansion. Most will upgrade to 625 automatically. But ya in the end they will be scrap or sell for the transmog.

What is the benefit of upgrading an item to GS 700. Say it has the same stats but its 700 not a 600. How does this affect a lets say open world pvp? Does the higher GS with the same stats gives any advantage or not? I don't understand that part.

keep it as gypsum shards is the best options. If you have casts, open now or after won't matter.

Of note, noticed you had artifact shield and a weapon. In the live release this won't be possible since it's actually a bug that shields are counting as armor.

But you can get dark matter in many more ways than Umbral shards. You are not forced to do mutations all over again.

Crazy idea here, and im just spitballing they could have just made it a little easier to get umbral shards instead of removing them? Idk the system sounds worse to me, get all your crafting skills to 200 to craft the materials you need to upgrade gear instead of just having a 590 piece that you can upgrade and take with you along your leveling process.

Blood sucker gets upgraded to 625. Technically meaning you can upgrade it to 700 b.c of it's name item category and being pushed to 625.

That's weird - I've never been able to upgrade any non-named items (from invasions, major breach caches, or anything) between 590 to 599 to 600 legendary ever.

I think in the overall timeline of New World it's a fairly recent addition that items from those caches upgrade

Stopwatches will not have any crafting purpose, and like Umbral Shards, will just be something you salvage. What we get in return for salvaging them, AGS won't tell us :(

Converting Umbrals to Gold is the most idiotic decision ever. The economy is already pretty fucked with a single BiS item costing Gold cap. People are sitting on hundreds of thousands of Umbrals, some millions...which will create such an influx of Gold. It really is a joke
