Y'know, an awful lot of curious-but-not-savvy people will be attracted to this by the title, so it would've been a good idea not just to say, "put it in the bottle and add some hot glue," but to explain WHY... Just a thought.

I thought it was obvious, but i guess not. Here is the answer to that question. Since the battery won't fit in the actual solar box with the electronics, i opted for the bottle since it's big enough, and it will also protect the battery from the rain. The wires can be extended, so it's easy to put it behind the bush so it can be protected from the sun during the day. I suggest not to attempt to do this if you have no experience in replacing a battery-powered device.

This is a youtube tech tutorial. India is going to show up in force with dumb questions like "What gauge of wire do I need?" and "What brand of soda does the bottle need to be?" MrMist gave you good advice. @@TaylorSoloaiJR

It's okay. That's what the comment section is for.

Thanks for this! (I’m actually trying to do the reverse: convert some battery powered led fairy lights to solar. But I think this video will help me do that!)

Using a phone battery in that size might be a great idea, like rectangle ones 2 parallel for better capacity and will look better because it might fit inside. Also nice having those lil solar panel lights where did you bought them?

Good idea, I bought it from a local store. It's probably cheaper on shopee though.

Won’t the battery get discharged under 2.7v and get damaged? Can the solar panel charge the battery? It produces around 2v when sun is shinning

It's a 4.5V solar panel, I actually measured the output voltage under no load.

Can those lights take more volts? i.e. Would they burn out at 12v?
@TaylorSoloaiJR6 ай бұрын
They will definitely burn out at 12V

Aw man why ru quitting buying the t&gs

They don't generate enough revenue to help me buy more. Unless T&G sponsors me but they never will.

Ill explain ok So just find a same battery size as that and has a bigger capacity i bought one of them on lazada or any of the stores
@TaylorSoloaiJR5 ай бұрын
might want to do a capacity test on those when you get them, most sellers are not honest with the true capacity of batteries.

Humidity due to condensation in the bottle.

I was concerned about that too, but so far, I haven't seen it happen. I guess it just depends on where you live.
