Dead easy mate. Thanks! I suggest getting a small pin punch and lightly tap each torx screw before undoing. My screws came out effortlessly after this.

On the screwdriver issue - you may not be out of the woods even if you have the Torx 6-point supplied with the battery. The screws are steel but very soft - even with great care, one came out fine (the first I tried) and the other two stripped. My work-around wasn't pretty - I cut a slot into the screw-heads with a Dremel and cut-off disc, then used a slotted screwdriver (I have numerous small tools) to get the screws out and back in. The computer now works fine but it's nervous work dealing with this.

My battery actually takes torx 5 screws. One of my screw heads for the battery is stripped. Any suggestions on how to remove it?

greatwareagle use a sacrificial screwdriver and superglue it to the stripped screw. or grab a drill

One part of this is incorrect: When (at 1:34) it says that there are three T6 screws to remove, it should say that there are 3 PL6 (pentalobe) screws to remove. A T6 (torx) screwdriver will not work.

Thanks for the info! And thanks for pointing out that the (3) tools are included with the battery. I totally missed that part of the package when I placed the order-and hadn't opened the box, because I was waiting until I got the correct screwdriver. A local Apple dealer offered to sell me a spare Phillips and pentalobe screwdriver for $5 yesterday, and I was going back to buy them today. Your including the tools with the battery makes the battery an even better deal than I thought it was!

HELP!! : I changed the battery of my mid-2009 macbook pro 2 days ago and I did everything you do on the video... I left the battery charged at least all night long then I discharged the battery one entire day... But it looks like the new battery still discharges very quickly (1 hour even when I use firefox only!) Now my computer acts weirdly... It goes from 100% to 0% in one second! and vice-versa... What should I do?

Thank you for this video. You made this very easy. My battery is charging now so that I can do the last step. The only tricky part was figuring out which "screwdriver" was the correct one for my battery but I figured that out by careful testing to see which fit. It would be nice if they were labeled. It also took a bit to disconnect the battery. Once I figured out the entire black part comes away from the silver is was a simple task to wiggle it loose by rocking one side then the other over and over until it let go. I was afraid I would damage it if I was too rough but it just took a little effort. Attaching the new battery power was pretty simple. I wasn't sure if it was ok to let the tape pull away from the battery a little to get some working room but I noticed on a different video that it was ok to do that. Also, there is a clear sticky cover on the battery. It looks similar to what I might see on a toy or screen to protect in transfer. Does that need to be removed or should it be left on or does it not matter?

Is it really necessary to replace the battery on my old MacBook Pro 2009 since I keep it plugged in all the time. The only time I have a problem is when my cat knocks off the powder connector. Will is still run without a battery?

Hi Andrea, our battery kit comes with two depending on which model you have. If you have a 2010 it's a tri-lobe, if it is a 2009 it is a Pentalobe P6. I don't have the tri-lobe for sale individually but we sell the P6, if you google NWTTOOLPNT6 we should be the first result.

Actually it is, I got one in a storage locker recently, searched the serial number, took the back off and it's identical.
