Other Inspiron 15 3000series are having 2 slots for RAM but this one is just 1Slot. It pained me like hell cos I just found out. Very disappointed in my 💻 😞

@@Letruthh sadly, back in the day... Say late 2000 to 2005 8gb was HUGE. Case in point - got an Emachines E430. It runs on DDR2 ram... It has two slots, but everywhere I've looked states clearly that it has a MAX of 4 GB. Yes 4. Know some laptops COULD run more if they had a 64bit OS. But, DDR 2 is expensive. It works out the equivalent of 15 bucks a Gb in the UK Not willing to loose £100 on an 8gb upgrade that isn't going to work.

Unless I'm mistaken the ram stick that you replaced the old one with is the same amount of GB, (eight?) is there a reason why it would run better then the one that is already in there? :o I have the same make and model of laptop as you and i would also like to upgrade, but it seems like 8 gigabytes is the highest amount that it goes to for this kind of stick(?). and according to the sticker on the preinstalled kingston one, it allready is that many.

I have a Dell Inspiron 15 5100 comes with a standard 128 MB 2133 266 MHz DDR SDRAM. The laptop has 2 RAM slots. Based on the original BIOS, the laptop can take a maximum of 1GB of memory. That is, 2 x 512MB SDRAM memory sticks on each drive. Do you have a recommendation of what brand to go with?

@@AGuyandHisProjects yes I did use the heat sink and I also upgraded to 8gb of ram before I used to get like 30-40 second boot time now I get 9 second boot times and a tip for anyone looking to do this please don’t use cheap screw drivers as they will mess up your screws causing the screws to slip when you unscrew them.

Reasonably helpful tutorial, and it sounds like you secured yourself a decent level-headed wife, if she had the sense to order you a RAM card as a birthday gift. I must say though, annoying background music throughout the entire video. In fact, not very manly, classy or intelligent background music, but not as bad as rap music in the background.
