I like these guys, no problem for me but... when you put yourself out there doing vid3os or whatever for the consumption of general public at large you open yourself up to criticism, and unfortunately it seems like as time goes on we find the % of losers with no manners or poor manners on purpose grows. Likewise we are free to berate them. On a side note I had to stop watching their videos with my kids, they are getting smart enough to catch and understand the sexual innuendos. Again, free speech so I’m ok with that...unless you want to stop that would work too!

Kids shouldn`t be online, the internet is a terrible place. And when they understand innuendo`s, they`re old enough to watch it, you should be open about that stuff and not have it be secret or forbidden, it will save them a lot of frustration and lying as time goes by ;) Same goes for cursing, if it`s forbidden and demonized, it will be attractive and seducing, like with smoking etc.. Unless you want them to keep everything from you as they grow up lol.. just sayin`.. Some uncomfortable conversations are worth having :)

DEFINITE NEW SUBSCRIBER HERE!!! I bought a Rustler VXL & Bandit XL-5 in 2018. My son & I drove both of them maybe 1 month(too much power for his age). Been in storage since! Last month, I found em, pulled em both out, and me being a COMPLETE NOVICE, I took both apart as much as I could and detailed/cleaned them up! After 2nd battery run, the Rustler snapped the pin on the top shaft. Having zero knowledge about RC's I took to local hobby shop & watched them fix it for me. Had I found this video/channel a week ago...I'm sure I could have done it! Great camera visual & explanation here! I'll be stopping back by for more How To's... Thanks guys😎💪

Thanks for taking the time to make this video. I just purchased an entire bearing kit for my rustler. I did the tires this yesterday. I have yet to do the transmission bearings. This was extremely helpful. I may also just go ahead & replace the diff with the sealed version while I'm at it, don't want to have to open it again lol. This ia the part of my traxxas that scares me a tad 😄 I'm ok playing with the pinion & spur, that's cake..... But those loads of tiny pins inside that box, well.... I call that box 'Pandora' 😂

Hey Guys. I want you to know that I I was gifted in 1992 and afterwards. It's actually quite a long story and I would like to send this to you to let you know I had come across your videos fixing tires on a Traxxas a vehicle with another video showing how to put the gear on to the motor and don't let it slip too much because it would overheat. I have learned quite a bit from the man with the red hair. About my gift? I've never met either one of you men but it's not too hard or difficult for me to pick up that the man with red hair is very knowledgable in these vehicles. No questions asked. I have an Emacs brushless truck and I have light pole three batteries running it. The plastic gears I have burnt most likely in around 20 of them because I am learning on my own and now that I know how to subscribe which I have subscribed to your channel and I know how to get to your videos, I would like to know if there's a way that I am supposed to tighten my tires on the back of my truck from wiggle in a little bit.? I have Botton many many many and too many parts from Traxxas. I would like to know if you tricks or tips as you will call them. I hope you can respond to me soon I'm going to be looking for more videos to come from you and ur little friend u have there. Thanks for your time and have a blessed day. Jason.

I appreciate the info with the upgraded parts and even the cleaner. A few things though...I notice no blue loctite when screwing metal to metal. Also, I did not see any grease inside the gearbox, only inside the hot-racing diff??? Lastly, I did not find carbon fiber pads for the rustler from hot-racing. Are you using a version meant for a different vehicle? thanks!

Was thinking the same thing with the grease on the gears and blue loctite. Before i even read your comment. Great minds think alike... :)
@Rcstreetshop7 жыл бұрын
See above for my opinion on grease. the diff uses silicone oil not grease. the oil is there to provide resistance not lubrication. You are correct about the Loc-tite. I meant to use it but completely forgot. I'm not sure how Hot Racing lists the carbon pads. TRX15GS is the part number. They refer to them as "graphite" pads. they work very well.

I just put wheel axle ball bearings on 1 yr old Rustler (60 2s lipo runs on dirt&grass) to replace the 8 bronze bushings. Steering was sloppy, now it's great! But when I was setting motor pinion mesh, I noticed a bit of radial play in the top shaft that the spur and slipper run on. Is that shaft that the slipper clutch is on in bearings or bushings from factory? I have 2 more 5x11x4 ballbearings, but I hate to break into the xmission mid season if this play is normal.

Hey guys. Love this vid. Very thorough. You mention the 1 flaw in the traxxas case is the built in a-arm mounts. I agree this is a fault, although the rpm 3 piece with 4 small nuts is tought to tighten without removing a bunch of stuff. I feel the main fault of the traxxas is actually the fact that it has to be sealed with a piece of tape. Whats up with that? Look forward to watching more videos of yours. I was surprised how clean the bearings you removed are for a rustler that was driven hard. Mine always seems to get gross. I have to change the bearings everytime i do anything. I buy them by the 100 lot. Be excellent to each other.

@Rcstreetshop5 жыл бұрын
There are a number of reasons. Generally speaking you have too much grip. Adjust your slipper clutch so that it gives a little bit under heavy acceleration. OR adjust the way you apply throttle. You may also change gearing to slow down spool time which basically changes acceleration timing. Or try different tires (with less grip).

Instead of that grease u used, is there a substitute that u can suggest that i can get in an automotive shop? also could i uae OIL instead of a grease?
@Rcstreetshop6 жыл бұрын
You can totally get any lubricant (just make sure that it is not petrol based) in auto shop. That should do on parts where lubrication (less friction) is needed. On the diff however you need to provide some additional restriction by the means of oil to "lock" diff at higher RPMs. Grease won't do it, so we use oils with different viscosity.
@Kenny_Edmonton6 жыл бұрын
I wonder if I should go with a hot racing sealed differential or just lock the differential in my transmission?
@Rcstreetshop6 жыл бұрын
Before you lock it, try high viscosity 30-50K oil (it does pretty much the same but a bit differently)
@dustinshort62076 жыл бұрын
Or rip a piece of one of those silicone earplugs and stuff it into the diff. It's the equivalent of a slipper clutch in your differential, it is almost locked up, but will slip instead of something breaking.

How do I fix the big gear in the transmission?
@caseyschultheis5 ай бұрын
thank you, after watching your video, just did this!
@Bjeezy926 жыл бұрын
Do you recommend aluminum gear box or rpm. I heard the aluminum can keep the temps down
@Rcstreetshop6 жыл бұрын
we still prefer RPM 😎

Did you leave lithium grease in gear box instead of putting more on?

Sorry...he did grease off camera.

Couldnt really find a place to send. Thisquestion hopefully thisisok since its totally unrelated. Having alot of problems with the stock rustler esc. Any reasonably priced esc or esc combo recommendations?

Gove us a call and talk to one of your techs (not sales reps:) Castle Creation Sidewinder is a good replacement/upgrade for Traxxas ECS/Motor, but we need to ask a few question first to better understand your goals, so give us a call when you have a moment and hopefully will be able to help.

Do you guys know what size the spring pin is in the idle shaft have had mine broke but idk what size it is I was going to buy some stainless steel rod and see if that would hold up

Was the outer gear on the hit racing diff metal like the stock one? It almost looks plastic in the video.
@Rcstreetshop6 жыл бұрын
It looks plastic, but it is actually metal (per hot-racing spec its harden steel).

RC Street Shop Of all sealed diffs is this your highest recommended one? Or maybe FLM?
@Rcstreetshop6 жыл бұрын
Can't comment on this, as we don't have enough experience with FLM

This is good for a Jato 3.3 used only in street/asphalt?
@Rcstreetshop6 жыл бұрын
Yes it is. On the street you use a lot of grip and it is a good idea to beef up your transmission.
@DimMakTen6 жыл бұрын
Rudá Bittencourt Not to be argumentative, but ive recently looked at a jato differential, it does not appear to be compatible with these 2wd electric trannys. It looks to have a different gear pitch, and larger diameter bearings, however, it is a sealed spider gear diff not a planetary diff like the electric, so stock its still better quality diff, just put a higher viscosity silicone diff lube in it and you will get a more "locked" diff action out of it. (Both wheels getting full power)
@Rcstreetshop6 жыл бұрын
Jato transmission is completely different (nitro two speed transmission with clutch etc), but principals are the same.

Oh, no. It actually breaks pretty often. Even pins snap from time to time.

What determines the weight of the diff fluid? Like how do I decide which to use? Thanks for all the great vids and info guys!
@Rcstreetshop6 жыл бұрын
The number on the bottle is the viscosity . The higher this number the more "locked" your diff is. It really depends on the scale, power an grip along with your personal preferences, but in general, the more load you have the higher viscosity oil you need ot use.

Nice tutorial!. What kind of grease can i use on the transmission? is there any generic/easy to find grease suitable for the purpose? Greetings from Argentina

For most part you don't use grease on the transmission.

Would a ball differential be better or worse than the sealed diff? I'm racing my slash and I want to know the best option. Thx guys

Sometimes it is possible to set up ball diff "more precisely". What is you race setup?
@tjf83966 жыл бұрын
RC Street Shop It has a hobbywing Quicrun 10BL60 with a 3500 kv 540 brushless motor on an lcg chassis. Everything is stock in the transmission. Sorry if I left anything out, is there anything I was missing?
@Rcstreetshop6 жыл бұрын
3500kv is a good torque, but since you still have stock transmission, obviously you are not pushing it to the limits (otherwise you be busting gears or pins), so I'm thinking that ball diff may be a good fit for you.
