I work on seat line for GM for 20 years and yes we slap the covers all the time, what it for is you moving the seat cover without pulling on the cover itself, retired now but wanting to learn boat seats, never have sewed the covers they always came already sewed and we put the covers on

What is the best way to cover back insert what did you use to staple vinyl to where velcro goes
@frankjohnstonupholstery37779 ай бұрын
The same staple gun I used everywhere else, with 1/4" stainless steel staples.

I was left with only the plastic mold. No foam no leather. The sun burned everything away , where do I start now? Lol, can I still build my own seats here?

When is it necessary to steam the foam to bring life back into it?
@frankjohnstonupholstery37779 ай бұрын
It usually is not necessary. When I do steam it up, I like to let it dry overnight because it gets wet and soft initially. Most boat seats have no foam in the cover from the factory. We put 1/4 foam in every piece, which helps account for any foam degredation, and just makes everything look better.

I’m working on some Ranger seats now, need help removing the back seat cover. There is a metal rod that loops around the inside. Not sure how to remove it or the head rests
@frankjohnstonupholstery3777 Жыл бұрын
If there is a ranger tag on the back of the headrest, there should be screws under it. If there is no tag, there are Christmas tree clips that hold it on. Not sure about the metal rod.

How long will new cover last in sun and rain snow sometime
@frankjohnstonupholstery3777 Жыл бұрын
In my experience, it will last up to 10 years. Using a good boat cover will extend that out a long time.

when i took my seats apart the clear plastic pieces that were sewn trough that were riveted to the back part were broken.. how do i go about finding those?
@frankjohnstonupholstery37779 ай бұрын
Just find some other piece of similar plastic, cut to size, and drill new holes. Get creative!
