The Original Butter Bell crock is a specific brand - not a generic name for a butter crock. Down, Sweese and the marble one is a butter crock. The Butter Bell crock Company has been in business over 25 years and has the largest selection of colors and styles to match any kitchen decor.

Love the video and really enjoy your content. However, spreadable butter sitting on my kitchen countertop would never last a month. I'm afraid I'd eat it all long before a week went by. I'm the one who always asks for extra butter. So, it's probably best if mine stays somewhat hidden in my fridge! I envy your spreadable butter and your self control. 😊

Oh, don't get me wrong: we love butter, too, as it makes everything better! You can always just put a small amount of butter in the butter dish ... Thank you for your sweet comment 💛 ~ Anja

Do you leave your bell out all the time? I used to put my bell(the part holding the butter) in the refrigerator at night and set it on the table all day. First thing in the morning I put water in the crock and place the bell in and put on the table, at night I removed the bell put it right side up (sitting on its top) in the refrigerator and set the empty crock beside the sink. It became routine. Butter on the table before I started the coffee and Butter in the refrigerator the last thing when I checked the kitchen door before going to bed. I live in Florida now and my house stays at 80F in the summer and even with no heat in winter it is about 75F during the day so the butter stays too soft down here to use a butterbell. However 15minutes on the counter and butter is soft enough to spread. When you move south to Florida you have to rethink lots of things. Gardening is the toughest. Wonderful year round gardening down here but planting times are upside-down from gardening in cooler zones. We planted green beans last month (September) and planting some strawberries this week! 🤣

Yes, we can leave it out all day since it doesn't get too hot here in NorCal. I love your idea of moving the butter into the fridge overnight for hotter climates. Thank you so much for sharing 💛 ~ Anja

Have you used a butter bell before? What other tips do you have for keeping butter spreadable and fresh?
@topfuelfan

I found my butter bell 🔔 through king 🤴 Arthur . I tend to use it most during the cooler months. A little tip is to only fill it 1/2 way if it's not being used so often like for a single person. Have you ever heard of adding salt to the water to help it last? It's easy to forget to change the water.

Great video! I have one but I got a black line through my butter which I assume was mould. I change the water frequently so it must have been too warm overall ie 70F. I dont have a water line so I just keep enough so I know its touching close to the butter. Is this correct? Should the water contact the butter or should there be an air space?
@OurGabledHome
@OurGabledHome 3 жыл бұрын
There should not be any mold forming on your butter if you keep it in a butter crock. If there is, the butter could have been contaminated before (maybe by a knife that wasn't clean). You can also add a bit of salt or vinegar to your water which won't affect the taste of the butter at all. Hope this helps and I am glad you enjoyed the video 💛 ~ Anja

Jetzt, nach deinem Video bin ich vollends überzeugt und werde mich bei Amazon mal umschauen :) Danke für das Video, es ist immer eine Freude ein neues von dir zu sehen! Thank you for this video explanation. I recently acquired a butter bell, and I was unsure how to use it properly. When the bell is in the crock, does the water actually touch the butter, or does it sit just above it? The bell in mine touches the bottom of the crock.

Have you tried the Butter Boat? It's 3 parts with an elongated bottom dish for the water, the inner dish for a stick of butter (you don't have to mash it into a bell), and a lid. The inner dish has exposed ceramic around base that may absorb some of the cool water. I like that I keep the water and butter totally separate. I have put crushed ice in bottom with water when I wanted to keep butter a little cooler. It's also good for other things like cream cheese or dips.
