Well you can always stop it ... You are too strong for the cat if it comes of make ready up your punch and punch the claw or hand (obviously hold back otherwise it will feel more pain and get a bit more hostile than you would like)

I thought I could buy a harness slap it on and we’d be out walking immediately.🤣🤣🤣 Boy was I wrong. Stiff as a board and fell over. What eventually did was just put it on them for a few minutes at a time during the day. Then increase the time each day. Finally I’d let them run around all day with harness on. All the time without the leash of course. Now no problems at all. Unless they get spooked outside. Then that’s a whole different situation.

I got a pretty good harness for my chonky cat named Billy. I foolishly didn't introduce him to it or anything and just decided to put it on him.. thing is... I put it on him wrong.. Then, when it was fixed, I let him go so he could try and walk around the living room with it on. Oml, seeing him struggle to walk and having to lean up against the wall just have some stability broke my heart.. ;-; Needless to say I took it off him immediately. Maybe I'll try the harness again after I watch this video. Thanks for the How To.

You probably just let him outside too early. Some cats will definitely plop down and have balance issues with a harness on. I think this only happens in the beginning when they’re not used to the harness and should gradually get used to it. Maybe start with wearing the harness 10-15 mins a day inside until they are comfortable walking until you take them outside.

Honestly I had to just go ahead and take my cat outside. It gave him incentive to move and explore whereas inside...he just flopped over and wouldn't walk. But make sure it's a cat harness not a dog harness. My cat wiggled out of dog harnesses. There truly is a difference. And they typically prefer vest style.

@@jen2804 yep, I have a cat vest. Got Bill measured to make sure I got the right size. I've had cats that were outside cats and when I used to go on nightly walks, those cats would just kinda follow and walk around the neighborhood with me.

I feel like everyone should start harness training as early as possible. Being able to take your cat outside occasionally lets them have a better life! Of course, theres always some cats that just aren't having it... but.. most cats love it!

Harness training my cat completely turned his life around. He was prone to bladder infections cuz all he'd do is lay around and he'd lay around so much cuz my other cats harassed him every time he moved. Got to the point he occasionally wouldn't use a litter box cuz my other cats would jump him whenever he got out of a litter box. And if he did use a litter box..he'd hold his bladder all night until I woke up and could guard him from the other cats and he'd hold his bladder until I got back from work. Twice a day that's it. So it came down to harness training him or rehoming him. He LOVES outside. He's no longer depressed and his confidence skyrocketed. He now sleeps with the cats that bullied him!
