Those "E-00" things are not geeky settings, but error codes. E-00 means you didn't encounter any error in the past. When you shut down, the fan speeds up to cool down the combustion chamber, or the plastic case will melt down, so make sure you let it go through the proper cool down cycle. By the way, it is recommended to run the heater on full force for a couple of minutes to prevent the soot build-up in combustion chamber before you shut it down.

Hey Luke, once again a very nice video, thanks for that. Please keep in mind that you should "burn free" the heater from time to time, which means that you should run it on full power to burn and clean especially the glow plug and also the combustion chamber from soot. The vent speed after turning off the heater goes up to cool down the heating system

Currently as I type this, iam in the baggage bay of my 38' diesel pusher and just fired up my brand new 5kw Diesel heater. This sucker Is phenomenal, not s single issue i.e. fan noises scraping on the chassis, burps, farts NOTHING. I fired it up manually and not a single puff of smoke out the exaust pipe at all. It's running full board and all I hear is the exaust thrusting out of the muffler. At first I had my doubts as to whether or not the heater was going to be big enough and almost bought two of them, thankfully I won't need two, this heater is working beyond my expectations. Thanks again for posting your tutorial video, it helped me walk right through the programming and manual fire up procedure without a hitch. Regards, Eric 🇺🇸👍✌️

Good video.. Just ordered another for my cat's who live in the garage.. The fan routine is meant to stop any new fuel from coming in, burn out, then cool down the metal parts to a point where they are not going to deform if the fan stopped suddenly. the glow plug comes on one last time and checks for fuel... if no new flame is detected the last thing is turn the fan off... Not that anyone should, but I sort of stared at my first one for hours and figured this bit out..

Great video. The reason that it does not keep that low of temperature is the unit has to run at a minimum heat setting/cycle to keep glow plug hot enough to ignite fuel. If you where in lower ambient temps would work better. Also I see most people are getting air from inside of van. I ran mine to outside. This also help bring in fresh air.

The fan gets lowder on shutdown because there is a final surge of fuel used. This acts like a jet fueling to give it a last hot burn before stopping. In normal use, the fuel trickles and soot is built up. This final surge cleans out the soot and adds longivity.

Thanks very much. Your not alone, I have had that suggestion before, I have used my heater lots and lots now, if there were fumes that built up under the van that weren't blown away by wind they certainly haven't entered the van. I'm sure wind would carry most fumes away. I appreciate you watching :)
@JKUadventures
@JKUadventures 4 жыл бұрын
Not sure if anyone answered you, but the fan gets louder on shutdown because it is cooling the heater off. Just like an inter-cooler on a turbo'd car. The built up heat may melt the electronics inside, so a cool down is necessary. Also it is burning off excess fuel that is left inside.

Luke you may have a problem with your heater thermostat. Our heater switches between high - med and low automatically from the thermostat to regulate the temperature. When set for 24 it will cycle back higher when the temp drops one degree. We heat a 54' yacht with no problem at all. Current outside heat is 4 degrees.

Great video. Ours the fan keeps coming on and off several times a day and in the summer, it turns the fan on because of the hot ambient temperature to the point, it completely KILLED our battery. We finally kad to install an inline power switch to turn it COMPLETELY off.

When in thermostatic control mode, does it simply throttle back the fuel pump Hz setting to minimum when the temperature is reached, rather than turning off the unit entirely? If that's the case, then it could not control the temperature unless that minimum output setting is insufficient to maintain temperature.

Just a quick one luke. If you find it's heating the van on its lowest setting. Enter the password, and check your fan minium rpm, and fuel minium hz, they can be altered to give a lower heat even still then what they are shipped out with. Just bare in mind it might want changing back again for winter as it may struggle to stay at operating temperature and soot up..... 😝 Mines at 1.2hz with minium fan, and 3.0hz with 3500rpm fan maximum. On tichover it's super quiet, and only has 1 red line on the screen not 2. ☺ Definitely agree it's not worth buying other brands

@LukesVanLife
@LukesVanLife 5 жыл бұрын
Thank you. If you run these heaters on low, before you switch them off you should always turn it up to full power for bout five minutes or so so as not to let soot build up. Mel used a different tank so he could draw fuel upward instead if taking a risk of fuel leaking in the van. And yes red diesel is about half the price. And it works, I use RED diesel ( the much cheaper diesel for tractors and stuff ) because the man from the tank station yesterday when i wanted the diesel told me that the red diesel is 100% the same diesel as the expensive one for in normal cars and citizen use. The ONLY thing different he said, is that they put some coloring agent in it; and that is ALL ;) so save some bucks and it looks great, it's just like you have a stach of wine in your tank lol

Also to avoid the need install outside the outside the Van AND keep the system on compact mobile "briefcase", I'm using the silent pump instead of noisy solenoid pump! The fluel flow with my silent system is totally adjustable for the perfect compustion!😊

I am Installing one right now and your video is very informative, I have to ask, how did you install the thermostat wire through such a small hole, did you have to cut and re-splice the wires or is there a hidden larger hole behind the backing plate ? thank you.

Hi there. Thankyou for watching. I cut the cable pushed it through a small hole a wired it up behind the wall. Only three wires. Easy peasy 👍👍

Hi. Thank you for this video, I was sad about the Hz and thought it was standard on my version. I’m also having trouble with the timer - it does not seem to turn on. Here in norway we use different time format. 07.00 is in the morning 23.00 is 11 o clock at night. Do you know if i need to change this format to make the timer work?

Great device and really cheap compared to the Eberspaecher AirTop that is technically the same...even spare parts like the glow plug will fit, as I heard... Only downside is the lack of the CE-Logo or the e-mark, that can lead to no insurance if something serious will happen...in these cases the insurance companies kick you off and won`t pay... X-P Thx for the vid! :-D

I removed the fuse and reset and its working again, thermo is as you said, so I've been turning the box on and off as needed. Don't know why it did e 8 !? Thank you, l

Hi. The fan gets louder to assist in cooling the heater down on shutdown if it just stopped it could cause a fire from the latent heat. Joe

Hi. These were the most comprehensive videos I have seen on the installation of these Diesel Heaters. As a safety feature the fan continues to run to clear all gases that remain in the system before shut down. It probably does this when you start it up as well. On start up the Glow Plugs will draw a good 7 Amps and as the fans run constantly it does draw current. Best estimate would be 1-1.5 Amps ave. (after start up) with the fan running & more when the fan is running faster. The lack of a “real” thermostat is a shame. On my Propex I set the temperature & leave it. Very economical & frugal on current draw. Biggest heat loss in our insulated vans will be the cab Windows & the cab area & also other single glazed windows. I use Silverscreens for the Cab but haven’t really sorted the other windows yet. I never have any heat on over night, in the van or house. I find it very uncomfortable & always sleep warm anyway. There are safety issues to consider as well I believe. Anyway very informative video Luke. Will be interesting to see how these heaters last & how reliable they are. Do you think the pump will cope with being exposed to the elements under the van - Salt etc?

I would like how to get a written copy of the start up and settings and close down. Can you turn of the screen of so there is now lights on. so when you store the van??
@LukesVanLife
@LukesVanLife 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Helen, there is no written instructions, the instructions that come with these heaters are pretty useless. Loads of videos on KZbin explaining how they work though. The screen stays on all the time, at the moment whenever I'm not using the heater I just pull out the fuse but I will eventually put a switch on the main power cable so I can switch it off :)

Having the exhaust under the vehicle doesn’t cause problems? I thought it’s recommended having it out as far as the exhaust?
@LukesVanLife
@LukesVanLife 2 жыл бұрын
Yes it is recommended that you take the exhaust out the side of the vehicle. I never had any issues while the exhaust was in the middle of the under van. But since this vid I did extend the exhaust with another pipe and another back box so it does exit out the side of the van these days. 👍

Hi Colin, I'm sorry it appears the seller I bought my heater off has disappeared from eBay, I don't have a link. The closest one I can find on eBay is this link... rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F401945784397 But I don't have any idea about the seller. Read the reviews. 90% of these heaters work with no problems. You'd be quite unlucky if it didn't work. But hopefully, if you can source local ish supplier you be able to get refund. Try not to deal with suppliers from China.
