Nice to hear I'm not the only one who struggles with these t bars ,my last encounter was shocking 🙈😂 3 times in a row I wiped out in front of a big queue, I was like f*** this ,so I walked up instead 😂

lol, I had the exactly same experience when I was out with some family members last year; they hired slalom skis, but I insisted on hiring a snowboard (it was like 15 years since last time I used one), and I ended up falling almost immediately 3 times in a row on a T-bar lift that accelerated like hell every time I grabbed it, and I quickly switched to slalom skis instead. xD

Lol this is exactly where I managed to loose my board on the drag lift! I fell right before the last incline and my foot slipped off the boot and the board went downhill with the other boot attached on the board! The most embarassing ( and dangerous) thing of my life. I ended up going back down by foot 1with one boot on and only the sock on the other. I wanted to dig a hole right there where I was . I eventually got my board back and nobody on the slope was injured by my out of control board! Learning at Des Alpes in summer was the worst decision I could take. It was steep and icy, my butt was on fire. Moved to Italy and enjoyed my time way more .

I remember seeing one of these at a slope once and it was a nightmare for me and other boarders. The T-bars they had were pretty well-used and unstable, but it was the only way to the top of one of the trails. They always kept having to stop the lift cause people were slipping off!

Comprehensive and down to earth as usual Thank You. ..I thought I had these sorted till I hit a ski track crossing over the lift run and it was pure ice on a slant and off I went. If you fall and the lift has gone then its too late! The key is just to be ready with your back foot that isn't strapped in. If you start going over then just use that foot to stop yourself. Hope this helps!

Malcolm, any tips for riding button lifts, instead of T-bars? I just came back from a trip to Chile, and had to get on one of those for the first time ever, and on a T-bar for the first time in 10 or so years. The T-bar, I got the hang of it fairly quickly, but struggled with button lifts for the entire trip. Buttons felt less secure, and like if I relaxed my legs and didn't squeeze the bar as much between my things, or tried to change direction on the board, the button would pop off. Also had issues with my thighs burning and getting sore from riding the long (10 or so minutes), steeper (some accessed advanced and expert terrain, and ran right next to the piste, so they basically had the same steepness as red and black runs) and sometimes icy lift runs. Last couple of days of my trip, I had to stick to the chairlifts, tbh. Once I got back home from Chile, I started looking into ways to deal with those lifts better. I've heard you could put the button on the rear of your hip, or behind your armpit; strap both feet in before getting on, so you could switch stances during the ascent; and a few other tips, but I was wondering what you thought of these ideas, and if you had any other tips to share. Thanks in advance, and sorry for the wall of text!

Great question on button lifts! I'm learning at an indoor centre with button lifts and having the same issues. It's more exhausting getting up the slope than it is riding down, arms are killing me from a session yesterday. These are pretty slow button lifts too but only a 3 or 4 minute ride. Would love some tips on how to get better technique on them.
@rxshred2 жыл бұрын
I find it a lot easier to put the BUTTON between my armpits.
@Mani38782 жыл бұрын
Actually a month on from my reply, I've got the hand of the indoor ones and it's much easier now. More relaxed on the board in terms of balance and generally don't use my arm (if at all) that much anymore to hold on for dear life. Still, not looking forward to the type of button lift that launches you from 0-60mph in a fraction of a second out on the real slopes. Those types of button lift were painful enough when launching on skis, let alone a snowboard.

Hmmm, that might just be a case of powering through! The first week of every winter my feet hurt a bit, but then they just get used to it. However if the problem persists, it might be worth trying a different pair of boots, or maybe change the angles on your bindings to find something that allows your feet to sit more naturally.
