I think another tip is to go wide angle. I find that the movement allows you to put the focus on a specific subject/person, but the wide angle is powerful because it shows the environment that the subject is in. The movement and environment really help tell the story and make it dynamic. Let me know if you agree with this 6th tip!
@mattih6 жыл бұрын
100% that was gonna be one of the tips but I feel like I'm always saying to use wide angle lenses haha

Being a filmmaker on a zeroish budget I am shopping for secondhand gimbals that are a few years old. I literally live half a decade behind these guys... FEEDBACK: Hey Matti. Great advice, as always. What I loved about this video is that you gave us lots of examples. You are doing this more and it is SO much better. Appreciate the effort this takes. Showing us both good and bad footage helps more than anything I think. Already this year your videos have really stepped up. More humour. More examples. That chip packet on the lens. You are being more creative and it's awesome. Keep it up and you'll smash it this year. Exponential growth I reckon. Would like to see a bit more collabs with other KZbinrs.

Request for a pro tip! And what about dealing with focus while camera is on gimball or steadicam? Autofocus? Manual focus with high aperture? Itš easy when shot is planned and staged and one actor in a shot to keep a proper distance and focus. But when shooting a live event where people and objects just move as they wish?

Love the Moza Air, got it as well a few weeks ago. Btw, my Moza Air starts to tilt now and then, and I have to re-calibrate it through the app, and it works for a while, then I have to re-calibrate it again. Always balance it at home and on location. Really excited about the DJI Ronin S tho, what about you? :)
@mattih6 жыл бұрын
Yea that happens with alllll the gimbals I find. Super annoying but the MOZA air was surprisingly good I think since I didn’t know much about it

Aah, yeah I had the Crane v2 before, for one day, but it couldn't handle the weight from my Nikon D500 (or something) because it broke the first day. The motors gave up and I had to send it back. That's when I got the Moza Air instead and it has worked perfectly (except for the tilting)!

Hi Matti, 1) Ive seen a lot of people who have gimbals using the dual grip handle. How effective do you think these are? 2) In using a gimbal myself (I have the Zhiyun Crane 2 personally) I notice how easy it was for me to overestimate how good the gimbal is, and that being as steady as you can even behind the gimbal is still really important. Would you agree? 3) How do you deal with changing settings on a fly when your camera is on a gimbal?
