I've just received a SmartLav+ as my first lav mic, and I thought I was going to break something trying to mount it onto the clip. I couldn't have guessed that the windshield came off like this, fortunately you were here to help. I've used a NT-USB for 7 years and been overly satisfied with it, with many compliments on my audio quality. The SmartLav+ is very promising too. I'm for sure thinking Rode first if I need another microphone.

Another tip, you can team a smartLav+, and two mobile phones for really high production quality value phone videos. One phone on a gimbal or tripod to record video and an ambient audio reference track, while the talent's voice is recorded via smartLav+ onto a phone in their pocket using either the camera app or even a dedicated sound recording app for higher quality audio files. I've also used this to make a discreet audio recording device while I've shot the corresponding video hand holding my drone. I think personally it makes the smartLav+ a better choice no matter what you're recording video on.

I love the R0de Go but the output levels are too high for my camcorder and when I use it with the Lavalier Go mic the output sounds very nasal, no matter where the placement is :-( The inbuilt R0de Go mic is way better than the lav, which is disappointing since the R0de Lav was *not* cheap!

You can easily fix nasal vocals by using an Eq. Nasal frequency can range from around 1KHz to 2.5KHz (especially 2KHz to 2.5KHz). Now you can mess around with any EQ and reduce those frequencies. Listen closely as you reduce those and try not to overdo it as those frequencies generally contain most vowels. Reducing any kind of frequencies may result in an increase of others, so please be a little careful. Hope that helps!

@@ApplePi31415 I know... but the R0de lav mic is not cheap, I expected the performance to be aligned to the price-point but there are much cheaper lavs that work much better I'm afraid. The bare R0de Go mic sounds much, much better than the lav running through the Go system. Based on my own experiences I would not recommend the R0de lav mic I'm afraid. I have other R0de mics that work great -- just not this one.

I love the sound from rode lavalier mics but the cables suck. I've had two smartlav+ that have static when the cable is touched, because the wires inside are damaged. Heya! You most definitely can, but this will be dependant on if your computer has a dedicated TRS mic input or a TRRS headset input! If you require a TRRS adaptor, the SC4 will do the trick - rode.com/en/accessories/adaptors-cables/sc4 If your computer for whatever reason has neither and only has USB, then the AI-Micro would be your best bet - rode.com/en/interfaces-and-mixers/ai-series/ai-micro

Do any of these support multiple microphones? I'd like to do interviews with multiple individuals but am a bit lost as to how to achieve this. Thank you!
@rodemic
@rodemic Жыл бұрын
So there are a couple of solutions for this: you can connect two lavaliers to a device like an Ai-Micro and then plug that into a smartphone or computer for your interviews. Or you can use a lavalier with a Wireless GO II or Wireless ME via the 3.5mm jack for up to two mics per receiver (this can be used with your camera, phone or computer).

If I were to plug the Lavalier mic into my computer.. that would suggest I'm doing this for audio only purposes correct? And If I were to lug it into a camera.. one would assume for audio & visual? Then upload the, just the footage from the SD card onto our editing software and the microphone sound will have been picked up? Or is there a seperate file needed to upload the sound from the mic as well? Secondly.. how does one connect TWO lavalier microphone inputs into both options ie: Laptop for just sound, or camera for film as well? Is there a second compatible device needed?

I believe the 3.5mm audio input on the H1 is a TRS port. To use the smartLav+ with this type of input, you'll need the SC3 TRRS to TRS adaptor. Alternatively, the Lavalier GO will be directly compatible.

Really! Pointing this mic sideways may work in a closed controlled studio environment, however using it outside or in a noisey environment is not going to be ideal as unwanted noise will get into the mix more prevalently. In addition, the weight and bulk of the mic is pulling her collar down in an obvious way, which otherwise would’ve looked great. I wonder if this is the actual audio from the mic! Just as well Helena is wearing a black shirt, as it does reduce the distraction. Also, why have background music when you’re trying to feature the mic! On another note, I have been waiting for about 2 months for Rode to supply VXLR+ adapter’s. What’s going on. I thought their product’s are made in Australia. Not really good enough Rode. I agree, Helena does a great job.

I've seen other people saying that the mic shouldn't be pointed to the side, as it is in this video. However, without taping it, I wouldn't know how to point it up on a t-shirt like this - do you have any advice, or is it okay, to just point it to the side?

Thanks for the kind information. What is the best app to record audio using Lavliar mic. I do Vloging by presenting slides and recording audio sound separately then adding them on the kinemaster.

Very helpful video! I'm learning to sing and I want to be able to record my songs in a noisy environment, my home (the noise is from the urban area), I want to save and would like to have an easy to use microphone such as a lavalier mic. Will it have a good frequency response? (Bottom line of my question: I know it is good for voice, but is it for singing?).

Hey Jan, the Lavalier can be used for singing, but there are definitely better options available. For example, the NT-USB and NT-USB Mini will be good, or any of our XLR studio microphones!

Hi Heen, I bought a lavalier lapel mic and tested it on voice memos and it does record. My question is how do I record a video on my IPhone so that the mic picks up the audio recording? I thought I had to record my mic audio through hitting "record" on the voice memo app but then when I go to my camera to record a video, that automatically takes over and my voice is not being recorded via the mic. How do I get the mic to record my vocals while filming the video? Thanks in advance

Hey there! Full disclosure - Not Heen 😅 If you have a 3.5mm TRRS input connected to your iPhone directly (as well as the appropriate adaptor), it should automatically use that microphone as the input source. If you are experiencing any issues, I'd recommend reaching out to our Support Team and they will be happy to assist you! help.rode.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

@@rodemic Awesome and thanks for the reply! I did buy an Apple 3.5 mm MFi lightning adaptor but for some reason the mic is not picking up (not sure what an appropriate adaptor is ?). I'll give it another try and will contact tech support if stumped. Appreciate your help!
