Nice video buddy. I like the way you drop the bass out for the verse and bring it back for the chorus. Very clever. 👍🏻 Urrgghh.. Debby!! Haha. 😂 Also.. point your main camera down a little so we can see you play. 👍🏻

Hey, thank you🤟 those pedals are called the skinny little twins, they’re momentary pedals which I use to control the rc600’s onboard fx and one set up for a mic kill switch. I have a link to them here www.ebay.co.uk/itm/331869420581?var=540939292787&mkevt=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=710-53481-19255-0&campid=5338749374&toolid=20006&customid=GB_619_331869420581.143733537838~1869677513039-g_Cj0KCQiAy9msBhD0ARIsANbk0A_xwEBYpNz1zWweVsQ89HmfqRLxGM4J9kMeHGeKN1ltFqljIsR4YxQaAn1PEALw_wcB

Wonderful tutorial! I am new to the RC600 and learned many things here... I had 2 questions after watching... Are you just using the 600's light to stay in time? (like during the debbie song)... it seems very natural for you to finish the loop at the right moment without a click track / inear monitors... And it looks like you are stopping recording the loop AFTER the measure you are playing finish? For example at 7:00 when doing the bassline, it looks like you tap after the measure ends, and the Looper is just cropping it back to the last measure's end? If so, I haven't discovered the setting for that yet!

That's brilliant to have the mic input on a pedal. I've had to fiddle with the on/off on my mic so many times it was just annoying. Still liking the rc600?

Hey, I’m using the boss gp10 multi fx here although if you’re looking to make a bass tone directly on the rc600 I’d suggest using 2 fx settings at one and that is the transpose and EQ, it take some playing around with as each guitar differs with pick up guality, I’ve tried it before and managed to find a semi decent tone, I just know that using the guitar to bass or transpose alone is pretty poo 😂 let me know how you get on as I have several more suggestions 👍👍

I must admit, I bought an RC300 a few years back. It was interesting, but unless your doing original stuff (KT Tunstall, Ed Sheeran and others) for me, it is boring in a live situation especially when 'remaking' hits of the past. I'd rather hear someone performing with backing tracks interspersed with just acoustic numbers rather than bad beat-boxing, octave shifted guitar bass and the endless same sound. I also wonder whether it makes the performer and listener disengage from the act of music-making because of the 'left-brain' activity that has to go on by the performer just to get the loops down. There's a reason why recorded music is much better when a band plays together when putting down tracks, or at the very least, play their parts all the way through a song. The 'copying' and 'pasting' becomes irritating for performer and listener. But hey, each to their own.

I kind of understand, I personally have never had a problem holding an audience I’d say it’s one of my strongest abilities. To me with loops I’d only lay down a foundation, a good beat, most popular music past to present has an element of looped samples at its core, I suppose it boils down to the listener’s personal preferences, thank you though, it is food for thought for a lot of people looping to up their game 👍👍

backing tracks are the way to go for karoke non professionals who cant play live well and need hands held. Not really for a true musician.

I can't see your guitar, my man. So, are you using the Roland GP-10 to power your FX setup? Is the with or without the GK pickup?
@JohnWynne
@JohnWynne Жыл бұрын
Hey, I was using the gp10 with the gk3 however recently sold the gp10 and bought a second Roland gr55, now got 2 rigs one for the rc300 and one for the rc600. Love working with these units, clarity for mixing and control just works perfect for me, have you used a gr55
@35milesoflead

@John Wynne No, not yet. My rig is a PRS into ME-80 into RC300 currently. I am upgrading to the RC600 soon so I can run my bass rig (GT-6B) at the same time. I was contemplating a second rc300, but the 2nd hand price was about 60% to 70% of the price of a new RC600. I looked at the GP-10 and the GK pickup to augment the ME-80, but I decided on a looper instead. The looper offered better functionality, especially when I heard you can control the internal drum kits with an external midi controller.

Just a thought: If you set your routing up so a couple of the loops are guitar only, can't you get from zero to singing way quicker? Beats, basic guitar part on the 'guitar only' loop while singing the first verse. G2B on another guitar only loop while you sing the chorus and you're all set up for the rest of the song. I've been watching a lot of the 'loop pedal' views of Ed Sheeran's stuff that are kicking about on KZbin and he does that sort of thing a lot (though he does it by using a second mic, because the pedals he started out with didn't have the kind of looping you have with the RC-600)

Totally 🙌 a great example I’ve seen of this is jaul bernhoft looping his own song COME AROUND, a perfect example of quick looping, really cool song too if you haven’t checked it out kzbin.info/www/bejne/qaOuo6x6p852jZIsi=aU54idiaobcjJYCw

Great stuff mate for a beginner like me…Cheers. What are your Mike settings (fx) please? Thanks
@JohnWynne
@JohnWynne Жыл бұрын
Hey Mat, cheers buddy. It’s simply done by setting one of the fx to the mic in and selecting the eq fx, I just slightly altered the bottom end and beatboxed as I done it till the tone fitted, I also bought some momentary pedals called the skinny little twins to assign the fx. They’re really good and don’t require an external power source, I highly recommend 👍👍

If that’s what you play, maybe don’t give advice on artistic side of things. Focus on technical aspect, everyone would benefit. Other than that, (too long) but informative video, made me reconsider rc600.

I don’t understand what you’re trying to say buddy, it’s not really a technical vid, thanks for taking the time to comment though, I’m flattered it sparked a reaction 🥹🤟

Sure did, don’t want to be hard on you. But I think it’s important to teach people how to use equipment, not necessarily influence the art they make. I’m referring to the part when you mentioned that loops should be layered quickly, but in my case 7 min long intros get audience really into the performance. All I’m saying is that is cool to share knowledge, but it’s artist job to use that knowledge to their best ability and whatever feels good to them
@JohnWynne
@JohnWynne 9 ай бұрын
@jansosnowski2994 I think we’d have to agree to disagree on this one, I’ve been looping at gigs for over 10 years, in the beginning I absolutely sucked at it, you totally lose the audience when they’re listening to a the same bars going around and around before you’ve even begun to sing or get properly into the swing of a song. I get hired by venues and agents on my ability to engage with an audience, some agents don’t even know what I perform musically, I’m booked purely on that reputation of holding an audience in a venue to give them a good return on their investment. If you’re having success at performing a song that lasts 7-10 minutes then my hats off to you, you’ve captured a very unique audience. It just doesn’t work for the greater majority of venues

@GuyVogel-p5f 11 ай бұрын
You talk too much which is okay if you get to the point and make the lesson interestingly worthwhile. Do not want to disappoint you 'me Irish mate' but you lose the audience by going off on wild tangents. It came across as if you were talking more about yourself then about the Boss RC 500 - which is what I (and other listeners I presume) wanted to hear about.
