Sometime in the next six weeks I'm trying to do a video on the histology of the bladder and ureter! Current videos I have: lung, trachea, esophagus, epithelial, connective, muscle, leukocytes and an endocrine video with the adrenal gland, pituitary gland, thyroid and pancreas.

So you use the big knob to focus?

You use the big knob to do your initial focus on the lowest objective lens (with a red ring) but then when switching to higher objectives you only use the little knob which is the fine focus (and remember the little knob is on the big knob)

Would this work every time cuz today it took me a while to focus on the microscope.

@@ChayadaSongsakul yes, if you follow the steps exactly, it will. On rare occasions you might have a microscope that has an issue where it won't focus using the fine focus on the higher objectives...but more likely than not you just need to get the feel for it. Did you bring the stage to it's highest position and slowly lower it using the big knob while on the lowest objective lens? One of the most common things I see is students moving too quickly in that phase.

I move the big knob to the highest without really looking through the ocular and then I only move the fine knob which is why it wasn’t focus. I think next time I do it I’ll follow your step
