The one thing that I wish the education system (as it was at that time 80’s/90’s) had done, was show the practical side of what they were teaching. It’s hard to motivate a child if they can’t see where the information they are being presented with, is useful in their everyday life. Some kids would still slough it off and not care, but I think a larger portion of kids would actually be far more engaged to learn, if they saw the personal use in the information. Just a thought, from an ‘old man’ of 41 :)

I agree. I felt really stupid having to look this up but could not for the life of me remember learning it in school. Too much time spent on things that weren't useful and none spent on everyday or useful skills like a protractor, how to file taxes, etc.
