I have been watching your videos for around two months now and I have to say they are excellent, very clear honest and simple. Well done keep them coming. Do you ever do videos around your kennel set up and what food you feed your dogs.

This was so helpful, we have a five and and a half month old fox red puppy had her about 3 weeks. She is nervy and does not like the collar, so we have stopped putting it on and off for awhile. We crate her at night so cannot leave it on. We have been following your advice, re; not rushing the dog, letting her get to know us and home. Lots of playing, some rough play when she is up for it, basics like toiletting, 'stay' at the closed child gate when opened between kitchen and living room, (but thinking I did to change the command word to 'wait'), short periods of fetch and give. Stimulating games like find the kibble that I put out around the garden some days. We have been thinking about lead training, this video has made me think, not to rush it, particularly as she is a little reactive to new things. Looks like a slip lead is the wat to go before a collar........thanks for all the free advice its brilliant and so helpful.

At last someone who breaks down heal training into two lessons that are easy to understand and implement. I have a very strong 2-year-old field spaniel and he has been a real handful to train but with the introduction of your training methods I really am seeing some noticeable progress. As you say it is baby steps but Teal is now enjoying his training so much more than before. Thank you Charlie.

Thanks for your videos! They’ve been really helpful. I’ve got an 8 month old working line ESS and I’m really interested in how you decide how much work to do and when with different pups - I’ve been following Waffle and the level of training he’s at, at a similar age to my pup, and really interested in why this pup is just getting a lead on for the first time at 5.5 months? Would love it if you could do a video on how much to do in a day/what a good routine is like for different pups at different ages. I worry sometimes I’m overworking my little man but he seems like if he doesn’t have a job to do he’s just looking for constant shenanigans 😂

Really informative videos, many thanks. Also learnt not to make the mistake of walking a young pup too much, but for short walks is a slip lead suitable for a 3-6 month old pup or better to go flat collar and thin line to start walking to heel?

As your tag line says. ’You get out what you put in! ‘ I was wondering what your views are on the burgeoning dog food debate for an active working dog? I’m interested in how we promote health and longevity based on peer led research? So many supplements and additives often without proven results, ect It would be interesting to hear your view. For the clips so far my thanks. Developing our own dog sense / anticipation of results and response, cause and effect seems crucial. . So good to hear about the openness to learning with dogs and passing it on here. Look forward to the podcast.

I would love to know if there time schedule when to start certain training sessions. You mentioned with the other lab that you wouldn’t start with a leash for a couple of months. I wondered if that is breed specific, if it just works well in your case or if it is recommended for all puppy owners. There are so many dog trainers and everyone does something different. I started my dog on a collar as a puppy and when he was 6 months his heel was pretty good so I went with a slip lead. He is turning eleven in 2 days and while he is absolutely perfect I do feel there were things I could have done different with his training.

Don’t get me wrong, I love watching your very informative videos. However, I’m slightly confused as in one of your videos you say that you only say ‘Sit’ once and if the dog doesn’t respond you might give them a little assertive push to re-enforce the point. But in this video you say ‘Sit’ several times?

Question for any experienced trainers, i was previously walking on a harness and the dog would walk about 60 percent of how i wanted her to but would walk quicker than me and i would stop her until she released tension and we would resume, however its a very stubborn husky lol. So i got a slip lead and shes been walking perfectly for a week now. My question is will i ever be able to transition back to a standard collar or harness or is this life now?

If only I'd watched your videos years ago. I have a Drakeshead who was bought for shooting but big do's and little do's, he is now gun shy. Hey ho, not now a gun dog but a fabulous dog. My question is, Baxter is a big dog, always was and is now 36kg but fit as. The vet says he's fat although he has a saddle. Not sure if I should knock 5kg off him or leave him as he is. Having said all that, he is a puller on the lead and if my good lady and I are out anywhere, if I go out out of his sight, he will not stop looking at where I am and as soon as I reappear, he just pulls to get back to me and we cannot control him. At 7years, is he too old to train or is there hope. Sorry for asking the question but anything ir worth a try with this head strong lad.
