How about when you're casting off instead of easing the line? For instance when you're tacking - how do you quickly and safely cast off the winch? Thanks!

Just a great set of vids! Can you explain why lil fingers should not face winch? A winch will remove a big finger just as easily as a lil finger. Just trying to understand why we’re more a risk if your hand is facing the winch one way vs another. Thanks

To keep your thumb safe. To lose a finger is far less of a problem than to lose your thumb! (Though don't point your pinkie at the winch - rather make sure that it is the side of your hand that faces the winch. - Feels a little awkward at first but you quickly get used to it).
