Maybe I'm the odd one out I have a 2024 Ranger I absolutely detest this crap. When the car in front is under the limit the car sneaks down its speed and find yourself doing 80k. Hate the way new cars have all this safety crap, I think it's made for dick head drivers that can't reverse park, adaptive cruise crsp, Auto STOP Start, Lane keeping crap. I feel my opinion only these should be default off not default on. How I have managed to drive 4 million km in 50 years of driving with out all this dick head driver assistance defies me.

Indeed, my old 2015 Mercedes CLA45 AMG had full-stop cruise control and it could be activated at any speed higher than stopped... So it's not new, but it takes some manufacturers a while to catch up.

If you are referring to the engine switching on and off at the lights, then yes you can turn it off

Nice informative video. Coupla questions though - Are brake lights being activated when the vehicle decelerates? Surely the intelligent adaptive speed control is not relying solely on the electric park brake, which is rear brakes only? All well and good for long decents, but be aware that all of these intelligent systems are working through the main brakes and the spectre of over-heated brakes is a possibility on long down hills, if the vehicle is now relying only on brakes.

The system takes control of the main brake system for rolling adaptive braking, however once at a stop the parking brake is applied, thus why the advanced system needs the electronic brake. I believe the parking brake application is a regulation requirement for europe mostly when the vehicle is stopped...

it usually pickup the wrong speed sign, like service roads one, timed school zone at out of the time range etc.. so most drivers will turn off the speed sign recognition on adaptive cruise control

I purchased the Ford Ranger Platinum in South Africa a month ago and it does not have the speed sign recognition option as part of adaptive cruise control tool, it is disappointing as the flagship model

Having driven my new ranger over country roads I'm not confident the intelligent adaptive cruise works that well , yes it accelerates properly after speed signs increase, but fails to slow quick enough entering reduced speed signs, especially 110kl back to 80kl, It brakes far too late, do you think this is normal, or my car needs an update.

I have experienced that when breaking from high speed in large increments, that the adaptive cruise is slow. I don't rely on it alone when the drop in speed is that high, especially over a short distance

I’ve also had an issue when driving through road works in a 110 zone it will drop to 60klm as per the road work zone but on occasion it will just speed up to 110 again while still in the temporary 60 zone. I think Ford may utilize gps speed zone speed as well

It's perfectly normal. The reason it does not apply the brakes sharply is because if it gets it wrong it could cause an accident. The speed recognition is an aid only, and it often picks up side road limits so erratic braking would not be desirable.

Much of it is a by-product of having regulatory safety features like pedestrian auto stop for example. Adding the kit for the mandatory safety systems also means these driver aids are also available by default. It's why the entire range of new gen rangers have adaptive cruise control, the parts needed are minimal. You don't have to use it of course, but to omit it there would be no cost saving to you the buyer...

there's so good info here that I feel is SO HARD to find information on and the dealers don't have a clue when I ask them questions like why the ford maverick build and price on the website only lets you select "CoPilot 360 ASSIST Package" vs if you are building a Lariat Maverick which says it has "Adaptive cruise control WITH stop and go AND LANE CENTERING"? The XLT only lets you pick Copilot 360 which doesn't have these extra items listed. HOWEVER, if you are building a ranger the XLT comes WITH CoPilot 360 but can have the "technology Package" added which has "Adaptive cruise control" but says nothing about "lane centering". BUT if you build a lariat version instead, It comes with the "Lariat Standard equipment Group" option which includes "adaptive stop and go with cruise control" but AGAIN says nothing about "lane centering" anywhere!! only that it includes in its package the "ford coPilot 360 Technology" AND if you build a Raptor variant, it SPECIFICALLY says it includes "lane centering" in it's "Raptor Standard Equipment Group" options... WTH?!?!? are they calling 1 thing by 4 different names or does no version of the ranger actually have lane centering except the Raptor??

Since you ask, yes. I’m getting a stock order Wildtrak next month but it lacks the power pack. Is the Ranger ready wired and is there a kit available to retro fit the switch bank overhead? Also is there a Ford kit to install a second battery under the bonnet and to install a 240V inverter. Most important question for me is the first. Thanks.

That was a great and very informative instructional video. A Ford dealer recently took me for a ride in a Raptor, and he demonstrated setting the cruise control to 50 in a side street that had loads of speed bumps like the one you showed (it was a 50 zone). It went through those speed bumps like they were not there!

The speed sign recognition, is it that the sign had a black ring aeound it and not a red ring? Is that y it didn't pick it up?

The red ring means it has read a sign. The black ring means it hasn't but makes a best guess of what it thinks the speed limit is on that road.

Because if you are stopped from a longer period you might have fallen asleep... It's a safety feature...

They do take a bit of getting used to. I would also recommend that you get all the software updates on them from a Ford Dealer. They do it free as part of the scheduled servicing.

Auto hold should be turned off. The stop/go replicates what the auto hold does, so you don't need to use both.
