I'm more of a SWL than a DXer or ham. Every afternoon I have my favorite SW stations and change the threshold of the AGC so I don't listen to so much background noise. Some bands are noisier than others and I change it accordingly. I also choose between Fast/Middle/Slow/Long as my Malachite receiver allows me to. Very good explanation.

Decent explanation on AGC but no baseline on how to coordinate or initially set Gain.

Thanks for these great insights, fellas. A not to the camera operator, we want to see the radio not the speakers. I suggest zooming in to the radio, using a tripod and leave it. Ideally, the camera would be motionless.

So what you're trying to convey is the "AGC circuit on" while stabilizing the image also contributes a bi-product of insertion loss in the receive chain? RF gain acts as a sensitivity filter.

Where did you upload the video of Shift & Width of FT-5000? Thanks!

Which previous video about the filters were you referencing? WB3BJU
