This is useful information, especially since I'm training to be an armed security guard. This video is much appreciated.

Thanks for your informative video! I’m an old guy that had some martial arts training decades ago, but accept the reality that my punches & kicks now contain about 1/2 the power that they did back then. I’ve been looking at ASP expanding batons, but wanted to view an example of how to properly use one before dropping $200. Have watched your part 1 & part 2 videos, & determined that my footwork remains effective enough to use an “extension of my arm,” as you described it, & try trying with the baton. Thank you for demonstrating how an old guy can still feel that he might effectively defend himself & his wife. Well done!

Get one with heat treatment. I'm not familiar with the asp line but I got a Smith & Wesson with heat treatment. Makes them much stronger and far less likely to bend. I'm old like you. My EDC is a Cold Steel Axe Head Tactical Cane, Dog Repellent (pepper spray, pocket sized), my S&W baton (21"), a six inch double-edged boot knife, a 3.5" folder, heavy boots, wrap around sunglasses in case of liquid attacks. Problem is, most of the murders in my country are surprise knife attacks from behind in coffee shops, on busses, on subways, on subway platforms, randomly walking down the street (you have mass shootings; we have mass stabbings). Usually the knife is in the kidney and out again before the victim even feels it. So I'm now looking into stab proof vests. And, yes, I live in a Fentanyl Zombie Apocalypse Twilight Zone. Stay safe and start weight training. Cheers!

A long tool that provides reach should be used with the strong foot forward, otherwise makes no sense and adds no range. The weapon protection is not going to be provided by the puny flesh and bone weak arm, but with quick slashes and proper elbow retraction. True words about the bs with locks. Awesome tool against knife wielders - when awareness has paid off.

Key word: *wielder*. Yes, if someone's flailing his arms around holding a knife, then this comes is handy. If they produce a knife suddenly, either in a random attach or once engaged in C.Q.B., it's useless. That's why **_awareness_** is *always* the single most important tactical advantage. Don't zone out while shuffling along a street but always be aware of who's in front of you, to the side of you, in back of you; who's acting out of place; who looks "off" in any way; etc.

Very useful video Nick! Also a baton is the best defense against an hand holding taser (did you have any similar video-lesson?) Greetings from Hellada

just found this one. top notch insights. thank you, nick. however (and i do hope someone has told in the meantime, 3 years), do something to beef up the acoustics in this room. hardly audible. put some cheap padding on the upper part of the wall or somth. sorry for being the smart ass here, but that would have left positive vibe about the video only. peace

As an old man, married to an old woman for 49 years, I believe she would do much better with the baton than with her lipstick.
