Paddle spinners have been used as rope-making tools for centuries, so a *slightly* different application than spinning yarn (think plying). But they are an excellent introduction for the principles of spinning, and great for cordage. Anything that gets folks spinning meets with approval in my book. :-) Thanks for making this video, Scott, and sharing the 3-D file!

Thank you for sharing your video, it was very informative with really good practice advice, I only saw a picture of of one of these spindles today and looked up how it works on KZbin. And I also live your Guinea pigs, they're adorable, I use to have guinea pigs as a child and I'd go to the shows with them, but stopped as I found that the people got a little anal and nasty, after all the shows were suppose to be fun, I did have fun breeding different sorts and learnt a lot about animal husbandry.
