@Wiimonkey28 ай бұрын
Would you perhaps be referring to Patafoin's videos? If so, the "dizzy" eyes you're referring to were custom-made by him, meaning they don't come with these models when you download them. If you want to give your Umbreon custom textures like that, I'd recommend importing their textures into an Image Editor (like Gimp) and creating the eyes you want over an empty space in the texture (one of the red spots, if there are any). Afterward, you can return to Blender, replace the regular eye texture with your custom one, and toggle them the same way I showcase in this video.

Finally I can change the eyes! One thing though, I've run through the eye/iris process with the Celebi X/Y model, and have found that when doing the last few steps at 40:10 where one eye's vertices are deselected and assigned, even with only one eye selected there's a single face on the corner of the selection that changes to black when the assign button is hit. I have tried flipping this, where I select the other eye and assign it to the other eye's materials, but the same face appears as black in the exact opposite spot. Is this a problem where I need to go in and see what's going on in the UV map, or is there a fix elsewhere?
@fallburyhero3 жыл бұрын
...and in like five minutes I figured out what it is. For the folks that also have this issue, try changing your selection to be edges or faces instead of vertices - as it turns out, when trying to select vertices with the specific squares and triangles the eyes take up on the model, Blender will try to add the face those vertices surround that's actually a part of the Body; despite all three of the vertices lighting up as being selected, you actually don't want the face that they surround to be selected. Selecting by edges or faces solves this. A strange problem indeed, but one I feel should be stated as I'm sure this isn't the only model where this is a problem.

Thanks for the tutorials, they're pretty awesome! I have a quick question though: is there a way to place something like a limiter or a constraint on our eye controls? I know we can just make sure to type the proper values, but sliding makes it easier to see different expressions quickly. It'd be great if there was a way to make it so the eye's X could only move between 0 and 0.5, for example, while also making it so Y can only move in steps of 0.25. I tried looking into setting up those drivers for it but I've had no luck figuring them out so far.
@ironmilutin11 ай бұрын
Edit: I feel like there's definitely a much better way to do it, but as-is, I made 2 detached bones on my model, and connected them to the shaders via drivers, setting it so the bone rotation influences the material transform with the formula "min(max(var, 0),0.75)" I applied those both to the X and the Y so I can cycle between all the eyes on the image. Pro: I don't need to go into the shader editor every time I wanna modify eyes. Con: I still don't have the "snappy" transform so it takes some finessing to get the eyes right, however it does also allow me to ever so slightly turn "off grid" to get the effect of looking to one side.

Hi! I was wondering how to bake all textures into a single texture? Whenever I import a pokemon 3d file into this website (after posing in blender) I get an error telling me that. Im trying to build a pokemon in minecraft haha Thanks~
@Wiimonkey2 Жыл бұрын
Very interesting question indeed. If you want to combine all of your model’s textures into a single image, I would do so via an external image editor like Gimp. Try importing the main body texture, increasing the canvas size, importing the other color textures in layers, and adjusting their positions to so they can fit in their entirety. When you get back into Blender and add your new texture to your materials, you’re probably going to need to adjust the size and position of the model’s UV Map, but the edits shouldn’t be too major considering the shape of the map should generally line up with different parts of your texture. Also, keep in mind that adjusting eye and mouth textures may get a little bit more finicky with a combined texture like this, since the values I showcase in this video for adjusting eyes/mouths rely on the textures being their own thing. Hope this helps!

I have a bunch of pokemon models, and to mod them into this game as a hobby, I need the eye textures to be on the base texture map as well; do you know how I can bake the eye textures onto the main texture image?
@Wiimonkey22 жыл бұрын
If I’m understanding, you want to combine the eye and the main body texture into one image, and then use that to texture the model. To be honest, I’ve never really tried this before, so I can’t give you a definitive guide. It would probably require combining the two images in an image editor and adjusting the model’s UV map though. That said, combining the two textures may cause you to lose the ability to adjust the eyes separately from the main body texture, so if you were hoping to adjust the eyes in the game you’re modding the model into, you may want to try and find another workaround first.

Thank you for the great tutorials! I'm following along with Espeon, but she doesn't seem to have an Iris texture - only an Eye texture like Eevee. Does this mean that iris movement is not possible to set up for this pokemon at all?
@Wiimonkey2 Жыл бұрын
Technically it is possible, but doing so requires carefully editing the eye texture to create the same batch of textures that Pokemon with movable iris’s have. (Eyes without irises, the irises by themselves, the alpha textures, etc.) It can be tricky sometimes because it requires you to crop out the iris manually and paint in the part it originally occupied on the eye texture, but if done correctly, the setup should be the same as other Pokémon with movable irises. :)

Could you tell me how to create emission shading on a pokemon. Like Umbreon has rings that illuminates. I tried isolating only the rings by photoshop and mixing them through geo node. But the eye parts had it's own partial ring that i couldnt isolate them, resulting very ugly shading. I also tried separating the only ring part faces, imported my isolated ring texture and overlapping it on the original model. But that i... kinda stuck there. Could you help me out?
@Wiimonkey23 жыл бұрын
I plan on covering emissions like this in the future, but to give a quick abbreviated version for Umbreon: You need to add another image texture node in the Shader Editor of both the body and the eye materials, set the "BodyInc" or "EyeInc" texture (depending on your material) to this new image texture node, and then combine the two image texture nodes together with an add shader. (The "Inc" textures are just black and white textures with Umbreon's rings being displayed in white.) Add a mixRGB node between the new image texture node (the one with the "Inc" texture) and the add shader, change it to Multiply, make the second color on the node yellow, and set the factor to 1. Afterwords, add an emission node between the add shader and the multiply node, and use the strength value to adjust the intensity of the glow. (BONUS: If you put the multiply and emission nodes into a node group and share it between the eye and body materials, you can control the emission on both materials at once.) Hope this helps. :)

Are you referring to Pokémon models that are created from scratch? If so, no, these textures probably wouldn’t apply to those very well. If you make a model from scratch, your model’s topology will likely differ from these models, and these textures were created and arranged specifically to fit the topology and UV Maps of these models. So trying to apply the textures to other models will result in strange mapping.

Thanks for your tutorial! Do you know how to export the refined model properly so that I don't need to adjust the facial expression (mouth & eyes from 12:28 to 24:21) every time when I reuse the same Pokemon under different projects? I tried to export .dae file and import it in Blender, but the mouth and eye setting in shade editor resets.
@Wiimonkey2 Жыл бұрын
Good question! Instead of exporting another .dae, I recommend you save your model to its own .blend file, and store that file in your Pokemon’s model folder. When you want to import that model into a different project, open you project, and then go file, append. Select the Pokémon’s .blend, and it should give you the option to import objects. Important the model and armature in this way, and your setup should stay intact. I have a visual demonstration in my rigging tutorial. @Wiimonkey26 ай бұрын
That’s actually how the textures are used in game. Most of the models we used have their textures flipped manually by the uploaders for our convenience. You have a few options. I’d recommend going into an image editing software, importing your texture, doubling the canvas width, and mirroring/adjusting your texture to be on par with the other models (with pairs of eyes arranged vertically on the left and right side of the image.) Alternatively, you could try selecting the model’s eye vertices in Edit Mode via its vertices, going into the UV Image editing, flipping one side of the eye UVs, and aligning it over the other. It should get the job done in a pinch, but I personally like to keep the UV map unaltered.

Can I make a video request? Graveler and Machamp "wrestling" with their four arms. I asked a couple other KZbinrs, but who knows if they'll agree or even reply, so whoever agrees first, I'll inform that person (who could be you).

You have to enable the Node Wrangler add-on first before the Ctrl+T shortcut will work. Check 18:04 for more details. :)

You need to make sure you have the Node Wrangler Add-on enabled in order to get this shortcut to work. I showcase how to do this at 18:04
