So, in order to achieve an ombre this perfect and clean, do you have to use a hard gel as the base? Can it be a gel polish that has been cured and mattified? (Does it need even need to be a matte surface?) Beautiful work!

We rather suggest you to aceton-free nail polish remover or nail plate cleaner. Maybe the sponge would be demaged by alcohol.

We recommend to use sponge brush rather with well pigmented, really thick gels like artistic painting gels. For Gel polishes we advise to use the nail art ombre brush: moyrastamping.com/index.php/product/nail-art-ombre-brush/.
