Nice tutorial. It’s weird that nobody not even UA mentions that this plugin really only works to its full capacity when you’re actually singing through it in Apollo’s console as an insert. It tunes almost 75% more that way it seems. Adding it as a plugin never satisfied my rap clients so I literally have to run it through a virtual channel and re record it to get the over tuned effect that t pain made famous. I thought it was only my setup then I tried it on my cousins Apollo and same thing. If you’ve never A/B’d t that way I suggest everybody tries. I think you’ll be surprised at how much more powerful it is.

Thanks for the video. Has anybody noticed that using real-time advanced to record through is the only way to get the maximum amount of tuning? Must be why it’s called real-time because when recording through on console 2 I’m able to get drastic auto tune effect but I can’t get close to that as an insert in the daw. I work with a lot of rapper/singers so it’s disappointing that I have to route the vocal through an output and record it back in through real-time advanced on on console 2 to just to get the maximum effect whenever I hear “can you add more auto tune?”

This version of the Autotune plugin is designed to work with Universal Audio interfaces or DSP accelerators, which can act as external processors for plugins, but only specific plugins created or licensed by Universal audio.

I like the Apollo version for singing through live because of no latency without lowering buffer settings because the Apollo uses it’s own cpu to run the plugin so I can set up a full band to perform or record and sill use the full power of computer. However, for mixing, you will notice that real-time advanced hardly works at all as an insert on the daw on an already recording vocal. You have to sing through it live or run a vocal through console 2 to really get the full effect so for mixing I’d go with Autotune pro

Not with this plugin. This version of autotune is designed for real-time pitch correction, usually during vocal tracking in the studio or in live settings!

This version is designed to be used with Universal Audio Hardware DSP, but Antares also makes a version called Autotune Artist, which is designed for real time tracking and runs as a native plugin in any DAW!

Does this UAD plugin work when you dont have your apollo connected? Like, if I were to open the project without anything connected, would the project be exactly as with it connected, but it would use the CPU of my computer instead?

All UAD plugins require UAD DSP processing so yes, you would need your interface connected or something like a dual, quad, or octo processing device. These can be in your computer in the form of a PCIe card or external with firewire, USB, or Thunderbolt. I have an octo PCI card which handles quite a few plugins while I'm mixing.

That sounds like you're getting latency. If you are monitoring through an Apollo or Arrow interface that should not be an issue for you. Make sure that's what you are doing. Turn off monitoring in your DAW. Your manual will cover this in better detail of how to track using Apollo/Arrow for monitoring, or using your DAW alone. This plug uses a lot of processing, so it will have more latency than many UAD plugins, but really it shouldn't feel noticeable for most people.
