one thing i picked up on was that you could condition people to mash on medium rekka from the lp+lk+mp target combo, and if they beat you once you just switch up to light rekka and its endless counter hits from ken mains

I think there's a lot you can do with 2LK>2LP>2LK for a blockstring as well! It's slightly more minus than ending with 5LK, but it has so much pushback that most characters 2MKs whiff even if you're crouch blocking. 5HP will still connect afterwards too if they don't press buttons. Great video!

Learning his safe jumps really helped me get out of Platinum! I find now that my biggest problem is being thrown when im trying to punish and being punished when i try to anticipate a throw, Diamond seems to be throw central. Hopefully these tips will help me avoid a lot of walk up throws if i condition myself to be taking advantage of the spacing provided by the jabs.

Next we need burn out block strings! 2 things id like to add which i use a lot. In or out of block strings if his overhead hits as a counter, which in block string i feel like it does often, i do cr.lp into his target since its more reliable than just his target, and if the over head doesnt hit as counter the cr lp would either be blocked where you can restart pressure or would hit as a counter and you would go into hit target after. 2) when opponents block his lp lk mp combo, if you go into lp rekka instead of mp(true block string) it forsome reason has a gap where it works as a frame trap. I do that to mix it up and hope not to end up negative after his target, on top of drive rush after the last hit

@kaution6829

Yes is indeed specific because crouching opponents have an expanded hurtbox compared to standing opponents

Od palm In the corner, TC is possible as well, and any DR combo works too. Keep mind the use lvl 1 sometimes not only for the damage but to put someone in burnout. Pretty sure you can get lvl 1 from od divekick as well

the crMP block string works on Ryu, Ken, and Juri, but doesn't on kim, luke, jp, cammy, guile, manon, marisa, and DJ. I haven't tested the rest of the cast yet but those characters can mash crLP and counter hit the cr mp. But crLP,crLP, stand MK works against Guile if he mashes crLP after 2 hits.

Great tech, however a lot of it is character specific. I tried labbing this with Luke and Marisa and their lights just reach farther, interrupting the cr. medium punch or Standing Heavy, on some scenarios. This works on Ryus stubby jab. Parry Goes a long way however.
@kaution6829
@kaution6829 Жыл бұрын
It's definitely character specific, it was more of a showcase of what can be possible with cr.mp or b.hp or other slower normals. I will at some point make a compilation of which strings can work vs which character.
@Dr_Leo_Dude-ss4mu
@Dr_Leo_Dude-ss4mu Жыл бұрын
@kaution6829 Oh I see. It's also really cool, because this vid helped me practice in a more efficient way. I was practicing a lot of impractical stuff, that isn't either super viable or too specific and therefore almost impossible to apply in a real match. I really enjoyed this, because it helped me consider how to work on something properly. Its really neat to now ask the question "If I throw this button in this sequence, what can my opponent do, and what are my options against that?"
@kaution6829
@kaution6829 Жыл бұрын
@Dr_Leo_Dude-ss4mu exactly this! And with that thought process it becomes very fun to learn and discover things you can do! Glad to hear it man, best of luck to you.

Is there a proper way to change these blockstrings when drive rush is involved? A drive rush jab or normal in general seems to make the spacing weird
@kaution6829
@kaution6829 6 ай бұрын
Drive rush normals create less pushback than the same normal without drive rush,.so you'll have to adjust the strings when doing it from drive rush

@kaution6829
@kaution6829 Жыл бұрын
Is the opponent in crouch stance? This is important because in crouch stance your hurtbox expands compared to standing, most players will block crouching to avoid getting hit by lows. If that doesn't happen in a real match you can adapt once again to their behaviour. Hope this helps!
