Matt, another tip I'll add about using CA glue/ Super Glue is to keep a bottle or can of acetone close by. If you accidentally glue your fingers together or to your project, acetone will breakdown the glue so you can separate them again painlessly.
@hunterrollins15553 жыл бұрын
You can also dye CA glue with whatever saw dust you have laying around to get a decent color match for cracks for example sanding a bunch of cherry take some of the dust mix it with the glue spread on and hit with applicator

I know this is an older video so you may not see this comment but I just wanted to tell you about this. I use a lot of ca glue so I used your link to order starbond's giant kit (I think it was 16 Oz). I received it a while ago and everything is fine. Today, out of the blue, I got a package from starbond with a big spray bottle of activator. There was a note that said something like, "we noticed you didn't order any activator and even though you may already have some, to show our appreciation, we are sending you a bottle free of charge". I think that is awesome and I appreciate it.

Just bought my first Starbond CA glue and activator at the Austin Woodworking Show last month. Used it for fixing things other than wood too! I've heard that storing the CA glue in the refrigerator will help it last longer, won't cure in the bottle.

The fridge thing peaked my interest, then I saw this on the website. You get a 20 month warranty for keeping it cold so I guess mine will be stored in the fridge from now on. LONG LASTING SUPERIOR SHELF LIFE: When well kept, our product can last several years in a cold environment. Just make sure to store the bottle under 40°F before AND after use to QUALIFY FOR OUR 20 month shelf life warranty. If product does not last, we will replace that bottle free of charge.

I've been meaning to get some medium & thick CA glue, with the activator. Didn't know they made colorful glues. I put 30 hrs into a custom carving, only to find a hidden knot in the wood. It very nearly cracked in a way that would've ruined the project. Thank God I was able to use the little CA glue I had to fix it. Probably would've worked better & quicker with medium & activator, but it saved my ass from completely staring over. Great info. Thank you kindly.

Great video Matt. I've used CA glue as a finish on some salt cellars I turned on my lathe. Once cured it's completely inert, crystal clear, and it can be polished to a high gloss or buffed back to matte or semi-gloss.
@libertarian16373 жыл бұрын
From Starbond their CA glue may come in 3 viscosities but CA glue in general comes in multitudes more than 3 viscosities from well thinner than water to thicker than molasses. You can also make a paste or activate CA glues with backing soda. There are also CA glues that can have increased flexibility and can glue foams which standard CA glue doesn’t do. I love CA glue and use it a lot in my shop along with epoxies, PVA wood glues, polyurethane glues/adhesives, and epoxy and acetone based wood fillers.

Hey there! Jenny here from Hardknot Creations. Love y'all and all your content! I've been following for quite some time. I know this question has nothing to do with this video, however, I could not find the spot on your website to ask a question, so here it is...lol could you possibly do a video on mortise and tenon joinery on a farmhouse dining table. I'm trying to expand my knowledge and for the life of me I can not find something that even comes close to how you show me and explain how to do things. I love how you teach and it just resonates with me.

I do love my starbond CA glue!!! I use medium clear and black a bunch. My opinion of having them is the pump bottles of accelerator leak and are a pain. I'm 100% for sure getting the aerosol spray cans of accelerator next time!! Not sure on your experience with the pump that has just been mine. I also now know why mine bubbles up so much, too much accelerator. I think I always thought if a little was fast alot is probably really fast. Less is more appears to be the game here, thanks for the info/tip.

You forgot the best use for woodworkers... It's like a liquid band-aid! I have had tons of little cuts and scrapes that might have needed a bandaid or stitches that CA glue took care of. Pinch the cut together or use string to wrap it up, add some CA glue, and then after it dries cut the rest of the string off.. it's quick and gets you back in action. *Disclaimer: I ain't a doctor, your results might vary. But this stuff should be in everyone's tool box, especially if you use sharp objects! Big ups from Upstate New York ❤️💛💚

I don't know what I would do without CA glue. Funny thing, I went to lowe's and asked a few workers where the CA glue was, and they had no idea what I was talking about. I had to say, super glue.

Today I've been watching this video for the second (and partly third) time. The first time was one day after you released it, but that time I didn't react. Starbond CA glue is one of the few things that is showed on American KZbin channels, that is also available in Slovakia. Thanks to your video I know more or less what to buy now. Although............... How necessary is the excelerator? Is there only one type, that works on all colours and viscosities of the CA glue? I think I'll use CA glue mainly for gluing to pieces of wood together (together with classic wood glue) so I don't need so many clamps and I don't need to wait so long time. What about shelf life of the CA glue? How long does it stay good in a shop temperature (15 to 22 degrees Celsius)? I've heard that keeping it on a cool place should lengthen the shelf life. But I can't find any information nor comparison. Do you know more about that?
