@@isisyennycondor9650 you’ll need to contact Canvas directly to get a price quote. Canvas studio is part of the entire Canvas platform as an additional element you can add on. It depends upon many factors but you’ll need your administration from your institution to reach out to canvas to discuss cost.

@@isisyennycondor9650 I know this was posted a long time ago but in case people are still wondering, it’s a fraction of the price your institution is paying. For the default price with 200 user licenses, it’s about $5,500 for canvas alone. Then about $2,000 for studio annually then $4.00 per user license. So it’s at least a couple thousand, however it would be more expensive for larger institutions, the prices I listed are the lowest possible. This is as of June 2023.

Wow, I can't believe that I didn't comment on this video when it came out. I use Studio by far the most out of anything in Canvas. My students submit almost all of their playing assignments to me. That way I don't lose any class time. That was one of the silver linings that comes out of this pandemic. Great video! Keep it up.

I teach a Basic Public Speaking class at a local university and require my students to do one speech on a video. This will be so much easier than getting a youtube link from them.

You're so welcome! I don't have video on that just yet. I agree, having them do it inside of Canvas is so much easier. What I do for a project like this is great a discussion post and have them upload their video right there as a post. If you want it private and not for the whole class then you could play with it being an assignment and filming it all in canvas. I've found most of them use their phone to film videos so having them upload the file directly as an assignment seems easy for them.

One note about "adding" KZbin videos into your Studio Library is that the captions do not carry over into Canvas Studio. In education, captions are a must by law (Section 508). You cannot even request captioning in Canvas Studio for any KZbin video. So my suggestion is if you happen to find a well-captioned video on KZbin, use the "share" button and copy the embed code and use the embed tool in Canvas to add it to your content. This will include the captions :0)

Thanks Wanda so much for mentioning this! You are spot on here. I still embed youtube videos myself because I like to created playlist series for my class for each topic so it's easy for them to access all the content in one place plus the accessibility factor for cc. What I've discovered is that many schools don't allow access to KZbin so the only way is for them to upload into Studio. This has created so many challenges for teaching online unfortunately. I've heard of teachers who purchase the video content themselves (like via dvd or downloadable file) so they can upload into Studio for the cc.

Hi Ashlee, I, an instructor, am very familiar with Canvas and Canvas Studio. Why can't the students follow my steps on recording and submitting their videos, where they must embed the display media for the teachers' feedback in my PDF and my video? They tended to miss the button "Embed." Can you create a video for the students to view how to record the video and embed the display media? They will click the button Start Assignment in my Canvas. You might not have access to studio if your uni/college doesn't include it in their subscription with Canvas. I think it's extra because I tend to only have it at R1s and cali community colleges which are very robust with their online learning and tend to get all the bells and whistles. Contact your canvas support on camps and ask if you have access to it.

How did you blur at 15:45? Can you do this in an edit after you publish the video?

I blurred it in my editing program before I uploaded to KZbin to protect the identity of my students. So after I filmed this tutorial I then added the blurring effect before posting to KZbin. You’re not able to do it after publishing on KZbin if that is your question. Does that help?

I highly suggest using a diff platform than canvas if you are not working for an institution that already offers it. I use kajabi for my personal online courses I teach but there are manny other options.

You bet! It's such a great tool to help design the pages so they feel what I like to call "fancy" 😉 Try it out on maybe just a few pages to see what you like. There's a ton of options available. Which element do you think you might add in first?
