How to use Chopsticks - with your Left Hand

How to Use Chopsticks Left Handed version. In this video I show you how to hold chopsticks with your left hand.
Many people hold chopsticks in a variety of ways but this is technically the correct way to use chopsticks properly and the best way to learn how to use chopsticks for beginners. The style of chopstick can vary a little, be it Chinese chopsticks, Japanese chopsticks or Korean chopsticks but the technique for holding chopsticks is the same. Sometimes called Chinese sticks or Chinese food sticks learn how use Chinese sticks easy.
As well as showing you how to use chopsticks correctly in this step by step chopsticks tutorial I also show you how to practice and get the repetition and teach you how to eat with chopsticks too. Once you learn how to use chopsticks properly then its just practice and you will be able to eat with chopsticks in no time.
How to use chopsticks with your left hand - Using chopsticks with the left hand is exactly the same as using chopsticks with the right hand. If you watch instructions for a right handed user you will be seeing everything the opposite way round and will have to try and compensate and follow along for the opposite hand. So I decided to also make a chopsticks tutorial for left handed people version of my video to make it easier for left handed people to see and follow along without having to adapt from a right handed video. Hope it helps.
I did film a totally separate video for the left hand and just intended to use the final section with the food from my first how to use chopsticks video but I didn't like it so I ended up using the video from my right hand and flipped it to give a left handed perspective so you can easily learn how to use chopsticks properly left handed. It works out exactly the same.

First time ever I starting learning using chop sticks with left hand. I've a desire to visit China and travel on regular long distance trains. I can use my right hand touching and eating food with my right hand because of my upbringing in India in my childhood and is ingrained in my subconscious. :-). Hey! I can’t seem to straight my chopsticks when am holding them. The top chopsticks i quiet far away from the lower chopsticks. I gotten down not moving the lower one but I keep pushing the top one to the side. Any tips ?

The best tips I can give you is to practice, the tip about practising with snacks helps a lot as you can eat them at your leisure, or force yourself to eat meals with them, the first few meals will be difficult and your food will be cold be the end, but you will get better each time. Good luck!

The bottom chopstick slides a little in my ring finger which makes me loose control of my grip and I don't understand why it happens, my thumb is straight 😢

Every time i struggle . Go to pick something up as soon as I put pressure on to grasp a chunk of food the sticks cross and the food falls back in the bowl and also trying so hard and trying to hold them so steady makes all the joints in my fingers hurt and my skin gets red and sore till I simply cant use them anymore because how uncomfortable they are , I cant even finish I bowl of noodles . I have big thin bones hands which doesn't help . Very frustrating.

Yeah, it was the same for me too, but it does get better and easier with practice, thankfully. I think in the beginning we hold them quite tight to help stop them from slipping, but as we get better our hand naturally relaxes, plus it gets stronger. Good luck!
