how do you change the color of the layer with a clipping mask without affecting the clipping mask layer? cuz when i use color overlay it doesnt show the clipping mask anymore since I use it for textures

Help me understand ! Why would you want to change the layer's color, if you're applying a textured clipping mask on top anyway ?
