Pamela, I can't thank you enough for your exceptional talent and for taking the time to share it with the coloring community. Being new to this amazing hobby I just want you to know that I truly appreciate that you take the time to explain why a step is necessary to get beautiful results. The way you explain things I have learned so much for binge-watching your channel. I'm not interested in being involved with Facebook or I would be part of your coloring community. On a different matter I just wanted to take the time to say thank you for using the Black Widow pencils in Johanna Basford's World of Flowers coloring book. I thoroughly enjoyed it! Keep up the hard work and dedication! Have a lovely week!🎨💕

I found this interesting and very helpful. I am now to colouring in this way but my very first set of colouring pencils was a Derwent wooden boxed set as a gift. I loved them, then I purchased the Faber Castel, I was wowed by them, then I got prisma color, love then too, then i got a second hand set of Caron dAche from eBay. I am so spoiled for choice as I really enjoy using them all at times. Something I haven't done is test them against each other, maybe I need to do this and try this out for myself. I got all my coloured pencils for my calligraphy work, and now I am learning how to use them for colouring pictures, and for doodling. Watching your videos shows me just how far you can go in this art form. Thank you so much for everything you do on this channel and on FB. I love your channel and coloring bliss, you are both very good teachers and are a real blessing to us out here in KZbin land, mine fields of informational demonstration in easy to watch and a joy to listen to. 😊

Your colorless blender alcohol marker will push those stray out of bound marker lines away. It really removes the ink and not truly blend. Great tutorial, and thanks for confirming my belief in mixing Prismas and Polychromos…

I feel like what you are saying that polys require many more layers because they don’t lay down as much pigment as the Prismacolor. I’m trying to understand how the two pencils differ
@marydimuro29533 жыл бұрын
I have a great idea! Maybe you could please put the 150 prismas and 120 polys to create one huge set in perfect color family order! That would be so great! Then, I would just carry that one set around with me and would have access to wax and color pencils!

Thank you, Pamela. Very informative on how each type works. I'll feel more comfortable using my oil pencils now, though Prisma and Black Widow are my favorites...so far.

My first time on your channel your video was super helpful. I really enjoyed it and now understand what the difference is between my Prisma colors and the oil based and can use an oil base set I was gifted along time ago but wanted to save until I really learned how to use them. My husband of 39 years was paralyzed after Life Flight flew him him for emergency surgery so I spent this last year with him daily at a rehab nursing facility. He passed away March 13 th and one of the promises he wanted me to keep for him is to keep making cards for charities as we did together before his stroke. I have t been able to keep that promise yet. We used a lot of hand colored images on the cards I made. He would gather all the. Lori g supplies my stamps the coloring books etc and set up a little snack tad away from Our coloring table table then call me and say e dry time “Ok honey honey let’s get our color on and make someone’s heart feel love” He was my art critic who thought. Every piece from a card to a massive canvas or complete album was perfect. you have to love a critic like that right. The reason I told you a little of our story is he would have loved your video too! I’m not coping well with his loss and was angry with myself for not sending any charity cards or even coloring one piece. I googled what’s the best coloring medium for adult coloring books and found you. I’m so glad I did I can now try the oil pencils he gifted me so long ago. Thank you for your teaching method and for inspiring me to keep my promise. God. Bless happy coloring heart

Pamela , why while coloring it looks scratchy on paper ? How can I correct that?
@jeanblythe15953 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for this video!!! Now I'm confused even more whether I want to go toward more oil-based, or stay wax-based. I have Prismacolor Premiers, but tend not to use them much because of the bad experience when purchasing them. I have Castle Arts, which I love, and Black Widows (haven't gotten the Dragon set yet, having trouble getting it due to how fast it is flying off the shelves). Black Widows are wax, but they almost act like an oil, so their oil/wax ratio must be closer to oil than most wax pencils are, while still being wax. I use the Black Widows a lot, as well as the Castle Arts, which were a gift from a dear friend, so I always feel happy when I use them. Now I want to try oil pencils a bit, and play with blending the different sets with each other, to see how the wax pencils an oil pencils make the combinations desired on each particular project. I think there will be parts of projects that are more oil, more wax, mixtures between the two.

If you’d like to try a great oil based set, I would recommend you try the 120 square Brutfuner colored pencils. They’re a great set and you can get them for a great price.

Thanks, Pamela very informative tutorial. I have questions about the paper. What difference is there to our colors when used on a 67, 80, 110 paperweight? If there is more tooth, will it take more strokes to color, and by the way which one has more tooth of all the weights?
@danamahmoud951 Жыл бұрын
Hi, the higher the number of the paper weight, there’s definitely more tooth and allowance for color pencil layering. I use a larger number when using water coloring so that the paper won’t wrinkle easily ❤ Hope this was helpful
@marydimuro29533 жыл бұрын
There is a lot of white with the prismacolors but maybe if you put as many layers with prismas as you did with polys the result would be the same? So the only difference is that you just need a few less layers of prismas to get the same effect as polys?

@danielleb.70553 жыл бұрын
Thanks for this video. Im definitely a poly girl. I just enjoy the process and thats one of the most relaxing things at least for me. Ive been using my oil based pencils for the past several pictures and I just went to use my prismas and was actually frustrated with them because i was trying to use them as a oil based and not wax so that there was my problem. I dont ever give up on a picture and I actually gave up to move onto something else. Im the type of person who cant move to another picture until I finish what Im currently doing. I also felt like I was constantly sharpening them and wanted to cry ( just kidding almost lol) bc i had to sharpen them much more than my polys/ oil based. I have always just used one set of pencils for 1 picture, I never mix them I think bc I get so overwhelmed by colors that I try to keep some sanity with using 1 set but I will try mixing them now. Thank you and have a great night! Edit: I actually now remember that I tried my polys over prismas and it seemed like it sort of mushed them around and took more work to get a good blend and when you burnish it feels like those special pages that you do scratch art on. It just wasn't enjoyable for me but I also tried this a few years ago when I began coloring. I stopped for a while and just started again a few months ago because I saw one of your videos and it inspired me to begin coloring agian so thank you.

@marydimuro29533 жыл бұрын
Didn’t you do the same thing with the wax and oil? Laying down a base layer, followed by a mid tone, and then the darkest? So, Is the only difference the amount of times you have to blend each color is more with oil?

@greekveteran27153 жыл бұрын
You have 2 choices, either get the 120 (You'll probably still get doubles, but you'll get 60 new ones too. Also, pencils don't last forever, so, not bad to have some doubles. 2nd choice, is to get the colours you miss individually. That way, you'll also get the exact colours you like/want. I think, that's what I would do in your place.
@PamelasPassionforPencils3 жыл бұрын
You can purchase those 60 colors open stock. I waited for a great deal and purchased the 120 set of Polychromos after having the 60 set. I will use the 60 set as replacements.
@cheryl67163 жыл бұрын
@@PamelasPassionforPencils That's what I did, I bought the 60 set of Polychromos first, liked them, then bought the 120 set. I've ended up doing that on almost all of my pencil sets though. I wanted to be able to try out a decent amount of pencils, without feeling slighted by not having enough colors to test out.
