Just one trick with the camlock fittings, cut up a bicycle tube to make a nice wide "rubber band" to leave on the pipe next to the camlock levers, and when testing and or when the pump is in use put the "rubber band" over the levers to keep them closed. Ya dont want your levers rattling loose with engine vibration and the fitting coming apart. Awesome vids so far, cant wait to see the progress... 👍

Cheers for the tip 🫡 We can't wait too, constant work in progress out here but slowly getting there. Not an easy journey that's for sure 😅

@offgridcitycouple5695 Ya could use zip ties but they're a bit harder to undo if need be. Good luck. 👍

Thanks Oily Rags 🙂 Have you used the Storz ones? And it was a bit of rain this weekend... Unexpectedly the dam is like 1/4 full from the 150mm and more washouts than we can point a finger at.... Drought one day, flash flooding next 😐

@@offgridcitycouple5695 haven't used the Storz fittings before. It was a decent drop of rain.

Hey there. Please please please make sure you have some stroz converters for your cam locks. They are what RFS use if you need support at your place etc. talk to your local brigades.

Yes good call, I've been planning to get one when the tanks actually have water in them 🫡 Will have one handy for tank outlet for the firies for sure Or did u mean to have one for pump outlet too??
@WadeAbout Жыл бұрын
@@offgridcitycouple5695at least in the tank - I think a 65mm stroz is the recommendation. Your local brigade will tell you

as I was watching this, I kept thinking to myself that you should really consider installing another sprinkler head right on the pump with another valve. This way if there is ever a fire, once you start the pump you can saturate the area around the pump to protect the pipes and the pump itself. Can't see any downside here considering how cheap the sprinkler heads and fittings are. Just a thought, great videos so far. PS, as a plumber myself I cringed every time I see you apply the teflon tape by holding the roll backwards. I was visibly annoyed and talking to my screen. lol.

It was concerning having the pump amongst scrub, thankfully we've cleaned out another body of water without any trees around it 👌👍 And does Teflon tape have a back side?? I did it that way after seeing a short video on how to get more tension on it.. was that wrong lol

Throw them in the water, pull em back out and they're good to go after a shake off lol

Pretty cool. Hopefully you don't have to use it outside of practice runs.

Would be nice to have no fires this year.. this weekend though we just got hit with 150mm of rain so should keep the place fresh for a while. Hope you're well ✌️

All pipe above ground should be metal ... no good suction or delivery melting!
@offgridcitycouple5695 Жыл бұрын
You mean going from the pump? This is a temporary position until a tank is delivered to store bore water. At this point if there was a fire, that pump would burn too 🫤
