Just so you know you can buy lace and bead silicone molds and use fondant to create this string of beads or lace by rolling the fondant into the mold and then just pull it out and frame it over your pictures. It’s just the easier way of doing it, but What you did here was beautiful!! 🩰 🎂 🎼

Thank you! I did search Amazon for a mold like that but only found presized ones that were a fraction of the size I needed, only a few inches tall. I’ll definitely keep looking for more molds, thank you!

Thank you so much for this video. I have been wanting an edible printer for about a year, but the more I research them, the more confused I get about the printing of images. I watched a KZbin video that discussed how to tell which images found through a search engine are best for printing based on pixels and image size. This is much more complicated than I originally thought. I am confused about how I would edit an image to make it ready for printing. It is making me wonder if all the images I want to print would even be printable. Could you give me some advice? I would appreciate any help.

I would absolutely love an edible printer too! I haven't done the research, but I am familiar with photo editing programs and pixel sizes, so it might be more familiar to me. It's so easy to get images printed at the grocery store, but they're always limited to things that aren't copywritten. I wish I could help more, but please let me know what you find out!

Hi, thanks for your tutorial! I was wondering what type of sheet did you use? Icing sheet, sugar sheet or wafer paper?

Thank you!! I purchased my edible image from Walmart (or it might have been another grocery store for this one) so I actually don’t know what kind it is. I apologize I’m not more helpful!

Please can you help me, my sheets always going wrinkle and bubble when I put them on the cake and in the fridge. Please how can I stop this

That's an extra great question! I had that issue SO MANY times before I finally figured it out. The wrinkling is often because the cake condenses and settles under the weight of itself and especially under the fondant. So make sure you have a tiny bit of room at the bottom of the cake where you cut the fondant just a hair short. That way, when the cake settles, the fondant will have a small space to go and not wrinkle up on itself. The big bubbles are usually caused from air trying to escape the cake for the same reason: the cake is condensing under all the weight. To prevent this, when you first put fondant over your cake, poke a hole through the top all the way to the bottom to give the air an easy escape route. I use a straw and put the hole somewhere I know it will be covered up (by either a figurine or another tier). I hope that helps save you from more frustration! Let me know how it goes!

How far in advance can you decorate the cake with the edible image? (On buttercream or fondant)

That's a really good question and one I learned the hard way. Colors in images start bleeding after about 8 hours, so depending on the image, you'll want to put it on last minute. Some darker, blurrier images like this one would give you some more time though. I hope that helps!

My images sweat and bubble when left over night. Do you have any tips to avoid this?

Interesting! The sweating might have something to do with condensation. The bubbling might be the cake settling. Is it like a ripple effect along the sides? I used to frost and stack my cakes while they were cold (and add fondant, so when it all warmed up to room temp, the cake settled (especially under the weight of the fondant) and would ripple. Does that sound like a possibility?

@@lesleyreed4617 How much frosting are you putting between each layer. I learned I had to minimize the frosting so it didn’t squish out under the weight. Also, if you’re doing more than one tier, make sure you have a support system inside. I usually use plastic/foil wrapped cardboard on top of straws.

Great question! Once you put the image on the cake, feel free to throw it back in the fridge but if the cake has fondant on it, than it’s best to leave it. Fondant doesnt do well when brought from cold temps to warm temps. The fondant keeps cake fresh for at least a couple days so you can keep it on the counter until you eat it.
