The main points for the knee is ST-35 and the extra point to the other reside of the patella tendon. Choosing points for the knee will depend on what the main problem is. Have you had it assessed and diagnosed?

Hi Darryl. ST-35 do not go into the joint. You go between 1-2 cun or cm deep. If you penetrate the joint capsule there is the risk of introducing a infection.

Which points do u suggest for medial knee pain along with sp 9,extra points knee eye point as shown .I have tried these points n still pain persists while in motion and even on touch its tender. Kindly guide

Hi Pradnya, with out an accurate diagnosis of the medial knee pain it is not possible to tailor the acupuncture treatment to the nature of the knee pain. However in cases of medial knee pain key points to use would include SP-9, 10, Ki-10, Liv-8. You can dry needle any ashi points along the medial joint line. You will also need to check for trigger points in the vastus medialis and adductor muscles. Is the patellofemoral joint involved?
