If you get a cheap thunderbolt dock like Lenovo, you can plug all your peripherals (e.g. mouse/keyboard) into the dock, connect a thunderbolt 3 cable from the front of the dock to the egpu, and then the thunderbolt 2 to 3 from your computer to the back of the dock. This allows you to quickly switch computers (e.g. Mac book pro to mini) and not move everything over.

Hey thanks for that Video. I have a Mac Book Air (Late 2017). Does that work with Purge Wrangler as well?
@Eevnos5 жыл бұрын
ITS ONUR SEZER I think those have a Thinderbolt 2 port, so it should work fine but I’ve never tested it.

Thanks for the video, I want to buy eGPU for my macbook pro 2013 late (i7 4 cores, 16 RAM, SSD ), usually, I work in After Effects and I have a doubt that in the working process it would get my workflow faster. Render is also important, but mostly I want to upgrade for the faster workflow. Does it make sense to upgrade?

Nice tutorial, works fin with Mac Mini (Late 2014) MacOS Big Sur. I would like to know if it is possible setup NPM or YARN script to use with the gpu.

can i use a epgu to my macbook pro late 2013? i really need more power for music production
@Eevnos4 жыл бұрын
Oblivion You can. I’ve used it on a 2012 so there’s no reason it shouldn’t work with the 2013.

Hey. Loved the video. Can you tell me if this works on a 2011 Mac Mini? It only says "Thunderbolt" and not "Thunderbolt 2." Thanks.

Thx for the vid. Wondering if I need to use a second monitor to get the egpu performance on an iMac or does the egpu drive the iMac screen? Cinebench?
@Eevnos5 жыл бұрын
You should be able to use it without the external monitor, but you get a lower performance that way.

So, PurgeWrangler is now replaced with Kryptonite, and it seems to be a bit more difficult do get my graphics card working. Do you have any insight into using Kryptonite?

Would you know if it will work with the latest Monterey OS?

Awesome, great video! Did someone also tested if the card is working in Bootcamp? and compatible with the latest version Big Sur? I'm playing allot of warzone these days in bootcamp but the basic videocard is offcourse crap : My Mac is Late2015 Imac 5K / 1TB SSD 32G memory / M380 2G., so a external GPU would be really a great extension! any info would be appreciated! Cheers!

should i use thunderbolt 2 cable or HDMI cable when connecting my MacBook to my UltraWide LG display?
@Eevnos5 жыл бұрын
Luke Thomas If you just hooking up to one display it doesn’t much matter.

If you have bootcamp do you have to do a similar process (going to git hub) for it to work on Windows 10?

Hi, do you think is possible to connect an Nvida card instead of AMD? with your configuration? Do you think it could be a problem using Mojave an Nvidia cards?
@Eevnos5 жыл бұрын
Technically yes, but depending on the card you may have trouble in Mojave because (as far as I know) there are still no Nvidia Web Drivers for Mojave

So I have a question with the apple GPU info page. if you had installed big Sur on a machine with only thunderbolt 2... would there really be any benefit to going for a 6000 series card? I'm just trying to work out at what point you're really limited by the thunderbolt 2. I'm looking to upgrade my late 2014 5k Imac so it can easily edit 4k (it works with some 4k not with others) and I'm not too sure how far I need to go in terms of GPU to price to get a solid 4k 50fps playback in pr pro.

Thanks for providing this info! My ultimate goal is to drive 3 displays from my Late 2014 Mac Mini from an external GPU. Do you know if there are any supported cards that would drive 3 displays? My current setup uses the built-in hdmi, a TB2->Hdmi dongle, and a USB3->Hdmi displaylink dongle, and the performance is pretty bad, so I'm hoping an external GPU may solve the problem!

I’m getting the Apple iMac 14,4. Do you still think it’s worth it in 2019? I want to also use it for my KZbin channel and light gaming like minecraft and sims. Do you think I made a good choice or should I have spent the extra on something newer?
@Eevnos5 жыл бұрын
If your going to just be editing 1080p and very light gaming you should be OK. My only concern would be the lack of a dedicated graphics card, but you could always use an external GPU if you needed. 😉
@renaee_qt5 жыл бұрын
Eevnos thanks! I’m going to start looking at external GPU options now :)
@Eevnos5 жыл бұрын
@@renaee_qt My pleasure, I hope it works out for you! I have a link to the eGPU case I used in the description of the video, if you want to check it out, I LOVE it.

Spend your money on a PC where you can always upgrade all the individual components as you need and get just as or more powerful machine for the same money. There is also the hackentosh option...
@Eevnos5 жыл бұрын
@@Dan-zi5fc I agree with this, my primary machine is a custom built Windows box, unless you are tied to the Apple echo system or use Apple specific software. On the Hackintosh side, I've built many Hackintosh machines and it's a fun hobby, but I would never recommend them as a primary machine and definitely not a production level box.. there's too much chance it could go down.

when we disable SIP does it need to be turned off always ? Also can u shut down your laptop safe with it still being plugged in?
@Eevnos4 жыл бұрын
Rudolphez Yes, SIP needs to stay off or the script won’t work anymore. You can shut it down with the eGPU plugged in.
