There is nothing like vintage sewing machines; I have a Frister and Rossmann with transver shuttle that is one awesome beauty, but I just bought a Frister & Rossmann like yours coming in the mail from United Kingdom can't wait to get my hands on it. They are rare on this side of the world, and even though the shipping is a bit higher sometimes the total cost is lower then here. Just a thought what size needles dose you machine take? Gracias for your time on this video
@VanessaBland2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! The size used is depending on the fabric to be used. Page 9 of the manual shows recommended needle size for fabric being used.

any advice if the top thread keeps breaking and if slacking off tension the lower stitch ruffs up. and what is the music?
@VanessaBland3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the question! I'm going to give you a paragraph from the instruction manual to answer (apparently tension is the hardest thing to get perfect, it depends on the fabric, the needle etc): "The tension discs are regulated by the nut being just above them. If you turn the nut from left to right the upper-tension gets stronger and if you turn the nut in the opposite direction the tension gets looser. Take care that you turn the nut always just a little only at one time. To get a nice stitch on the upper-side the upper-thread should not be quite as tight as the lower thread. The tension on the shuttle-thread should always be regulated at first, afterwards follows the regulation of the upper-tension so that both are the same. If the tension of the shuttle-thread is strong make a trial with it in drawing the thread towards the round end of the shuttle and in case the tread does not tear, the tension is right for thick and solid fabrics, whereas thin and soft fabrics require a more slack tension. After a few stitches have been made stop working and examine the tension and the stitches. In can there are knots, loops etc on the back of the fabric, or that the lower thread is not drawn up but is lying in a straight line, the upper-tension is too loose and the tension-screw must be more tightened." I hope this helps. I have scanned and uploaded the whole manual to Etsy if you want to read more (it's only $1AUD). And the music is Marina And The Diamonds - Froot (exile retro remix). Good luck!!! :)

@@VanessaBland thanks. i have been messing with it for hours and no luck. i think there is a sharp edge or rust somewhere. the machine last worked 2 years ago when I made a shirt. its a frister and rossman shuttle machine and i have a manual for a similar model. i think tomorrow i will buy a treadle machine as i saw several nice ones for pocket money. thanks for the video.

I can't be the only one who would have loved to hear the gentle sound of the machine and your expert opinion rather than the ghastly pounding music. I had to mute it...

The ghastly pounding , vibrating muzach is so ff putting. Why not just the sound of this beautiful machine .
