This was the first video I made with commentary so the audio quality is not very good but I think the content itself is still informative. If this is the first video you have seen on my channel, the audio quality gets better as you view my newer videos.

On more than one occasion I've ended up back at this video when trying to get a better grasp on fighting with the 190. I always learn something new from your videos and love the commentary!

A bit of critique: You should be much more aggressive with your throttle control in scissors. The scissors starting at 4:50 would've likely gone better if you immediately reduced your throttle to like 30%. The bandit was really close, and wouldn't have time to react to a sudden deacceleration, making an overshoot likely. That would've let you reset the fight or given you an opportunity to shoot the bandit down. Since you kept the throttle close to 100% for the initial part of the scissors, you shot out in front of the bandit at around 5:02 and he got more opportunities for gun shots. Ideally you want to be just a bit slower than your bandit so that he slowly overshoots, and then you're in a good position to get multiple shots on the bandit. Of course it's bad idea in terms of keeping energy, but if you're scissoring you're generally speaking either trying to reset the fight, trying to stay alive as long as possible (for help to arrive) or (in the best case) making the bandit overshoot so you can dakka dakka him. Of course it worked out here, you got lucky he didn't damage something more critical with his shots at 5:29 and then he flopped into the ground because of a mistake on his part.

Engine manipulation is huge I did not include it in the video because I did not do it but very good points here. I think I did not do it because I wasn't really sure what his speed was, he seemed quite slow and I knew I had friendlies coming so was really just trying to buy time and not force a reversal. I am still gathering footage to do a better version of this video because I have figured out how to make my recording audio quality better. Thx for your comment!

@@Enigma89 The F8 tab will give you a padlock exterior view from the ingame recording. Great to illustrate a scissor fight. The cockpit view is great also because it shows what you were seeing. If you could show both, it would help the viewer grasp what is happening. Air battles are difficult to show on vid because they are so fluid. Well done on this one. Sometimes outflying an opponent is more fun than whacking him before he sees you (although the latter for me is more desirable). 👍

Good vid. This kind of explanation of why you do certain things helps me as a novice pilot.

Thanks! I have been surprised my reaction, it seems like people like it. I will make another one when I record another interesting sortie. I am thinking of keeping it in the same format, with How to use X and base it around a recording of using that action live. Feel free to subscribe and you will get a notification when it happens.

Nice video with good tactical assessment! S-Split and Spit trying to follow was the favorite bit. Climbing too steeply is a common mistake seen widely, extend & rely on 190‘s speed advantage after attack until SA is fully re-established. Scissors were good, there is always a risk of getting a snap shoot when doing so, hence luck plays a role. Something to consider is rather do rolling scissors vs. just flat once - usually this gives a 190 even more advantages...

I appreciate it! Leaving a comment really helps so if you leave a comment and like on the other videos you watch they really help with the algorithm. Glad the videos are resonating. Let me know if you have any ideas or requests and if I feel comfortable covering the topic I can try!

I see a lot of impressive flying videos from DCS & IL2, but how did you learn to fly? I tried free sample DCS FW 190 A8 & it’s hard to turn at high speed. I shudder, lose control easily & spiral downwards. Do you recommend a simulator “flight school” for flying basics?
@Enigma89
@Enigma89 3 жыл бұрын
I started flying with Combat Flight Simulator, Aces High and really went deep with WWIIOL. All those games are basically dead but playing against players, not AI, is what really taught me over the years. If you want to learn and get good, the #1 thing I would suggest it to fly with people so you do not have to re-invent the wheel. IL2 is a better game to learn on as it's a more competitive environment.

You should have a look at the definition of a Split S sometime.

Give your definition please. Please also reference the obvious point you have a problem with but did not reference. If you have an issue, just state clearly so I can respond. No reasons to be shy about it. Happy to point out things so people can learn.

@@Enigma89 A Split S. Essentially a reversal where you go from level flight in one direction, invert, dive, level-out and proceed in the opposite direction.
@Enigma89
@Enigma89 3 жыл бұрын
That is what was done in the video. I made this video a long time ago, as you can tell from the microphone this was pretty low quality in comparison to my more recent videos so I may have mispoke at some point but i rewatched it and i think when I mentioned split-s I performed it. If you think not feel free to lmk. Thanks!

for plebs who play trash games like ww2ol still, do il2 tutorial vidyas kind of still apply to that game in any capacity?
@Enigma89
@Enigma89 2 жыл бұрын
I played WWIIOL for many years, this will apply very well. It should be easier to do in WWIIOL than in IL2 because Spit wings compress even faster and your wings wont rip in the 190 in a full dive. The double split-s maneuver is very good in the 190 in WWIIOL. You can easily get spits to compress up and you can roll away and speed out of there.
