I’ve been there! And I learn every time I do it. Two layers of fouling glue definitely made a difference.

Love it Kari ☺. If I want to use this foil method on a tray would I seal it as I would any other surface and could I use wax?

Thank you!! If you use a matte varnish over the foil, it will dull the foil. We have not tried waxing over it to see what that does to the foil. If you try it, let us know!

@@trohlfs01 We generally use the DecoArt Matte Varnish. Matte to avoid glare and shine from lighting. A question though, are dark based coats better than light? Or personal preference?

Did you varnish before applying the glue can you varnish after foling

We did not varnish this project. Your decision to varnish would depend on how you want your project to look. You can use a spray or paint on varnish. If you use a matte varnish when you are finished, it will dull the foil. We have not tried varnishing the background then foiling over, but Patty says that could be an option to keep the foil vibrant.
