just to be sure, whatever changes you make, its just in the browser it doesn't change the code. Im not sure he said that enough, so just to be safe...if you dont know that coming into this video, maybe take up painting or something...

Thanks Josh, great tutorial, I learned a lot. Where I'm still getting stuck is knowing what id or class to put in the stylesheet. I make CSS tweaks using inspect element, then copy and paste the code into the stylesheet, but it doesn't work! I seem to be using the wrong class or id. So any tips on EXACTLY which class or id to use? Or any links to other videos you (or anyone else) can recommend? Thank you.

Just subscribed to your channel Josh - you have great videos and explain things well! Would love to see one about how to add a scroll icon/button at the bottom of the Divi Header Module (I know the fullwidth header has one built-in but I find that module more limited).
@JoshHallco6 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Alain! Yeah I've only used the one in the fullwidth header module. I suppose there are numerous ways to go about it. Maybe add a blurb with an anchor link...will consider that moving forward!

Thank you ! Using Inspect Element to find the CSS then edit the CSS with a Child.theme Style.css I got from your video(s). Clear, easy to follow and very helpful. If I may ask, if I see some text on a page, for example, "Please login now !" but don`t know which file contains that text string, is there a way to use Inspect Element to find the file that has that text? That way I can copy the file to my child.theme folder and edit the text there. I just don`t know how to go about locating the text string within all the site folders/files. Thanks again.

Hello Josh, excellent tutorial, I'm a beginner on this, so please forgive my question: how do I save all my changes? ... 😅
@JoshHallco11 ай бұрын
All good! There is a setting in Inspect where you can view all changes to code. Definitely important to do that otherwise refreshing will wipe them all out. Other option is to copy the code one change at a time but that can be time consuming depending :) There's gotta be a better tool for that!

when you see windows marked blue how can you move it with inspect? trying figure out with YT bad new layout want like button at rite place and lots other know chrome got addon as save new setting for inspect for local

How did you save it ?
@kendalldhorn3 жыл бұрын
Hi Josh, one of the biggest issues I have with using Inspect Element to write CSS in Divi is that often when I use inspect element specifically to make my pages more responsive my CSS keeps getting overridden by !important tags inserted by the visual builder of Divi. Is there a way around this? For example, I keep trying to make my pages more responsive for the larger mobile sizes because the text sizes that work for smaller mobile screens aren't appropriate for the larger mobile screens. That said, when I try to make my font size larger, the CSS I'm using keeps getting overridden by the CSS inserted by Divi for the font size I have for mobile on the visual builder.

Hey, love the tutorial. At just past the 17 minute mark, you mentioned that you were going to go over how to identify specific classes within ID's in a tutorial. I'm grasping the concept, but for the life of me can't edit one particular class in my website. I either edit EVERY class of the type across the site, or none at all. I just can't seem to isolate that particular one, even using #idname .classname. Did that tutorial ever come out? Can you please point me in the right direction?

Do you have more videos about CSS Inspector? I still don't understand why some appears marked out when you are viewing the css. Are those old rules?
@JoshHallco6 жыл бұрын
Not at the moment but I may consider doing a more advanced, in depth one. Yep anything that is marked out is being overwritten!

how do i save changes i made from inspect? whenever i made the change and click refresh it goes back to it's original setting.
@JoshHallco5 жыл бұрын
Hey Russel changes in inspect are just in the browser for reference and not in the actual website. You should put all changed in your custom css area or child theme stylesheet. See here for more: joshhall.co/where-to-put-your-custom-css-in-divi/

Great Tutorial except the title is totally misleading, you did not show us where Divi's style sheet is located which would have been totally helpful in your tutorial.
