How to use Launch Control on a BMW M3 (F80)

You forgot to mention that the transmission has got to be in S3 before going to M Drive 2 (during your manual setup). I looked up your video because my car wouldn't launch and I thought I was doing everything right and watching your video, it seemed like I was doing everything right, but then I remembered S3 is mandatory to activate launch control. It's not just that it has to be in manual mode. I usually drive in D2 or S2 so mine wasn't automatically set on "3" and didn't launch even though everything else was good to go. Also, you might want to mention that you do need to press the throttle pretty hard to activate launch control. If you gently accelerate, nothing happens... Good clear vid other than that!

And to set the M button all you have to do is hold it down until it beeps and it will lock in the current configuration. I don’t even know you could do it through the infotainment

I'm in the exact same boat lol. I have a FBO M3 CS with a stage 2 tune from MHD, sitting right around 600 whp. Never launched it. I think I've only floored it once... and that was rowdy to say the least. These cars just have so much damn torque!

Mario Montoya yes. You put it on manual but when you use launch control, it shifts automatically as long as you keep the throttle down.

My car is tuned on ultra high performance tires and I’m still spinning in 3rd gear. So I’ve never attempted LC. But I might just for fun…. I shift 1st and 2nd at 5,000 rpm. And then let it rip from there

How so? Is it specific? For example, does it tell you to change oil every 7.5k miles, replace spark plugs every 35k miles, replace water pump every 60k miles etc.

thesecondrei1 yes, before I hit 10k miles it said oil change was due. Then it starts counting down the miles until your next oil change. Any other changes would be notified by your service dealer.

LC Steps Step 1: Drive 6 miles (10 KM) to warm the car up Step 2: Put the car into its maximum settings Step 3: Hold the brakes as hard as you can Step 4: Floor it Step 5: Release your brakes Step 6: Have fun! (Also, If you’d like to try again wait 5 mins to let the transmission to cool off)

Honestly, I've never had any issues with the tires not getting good grip. I guess it all depends on where you're launching it and how much thread the tires have left. But yes, I keep my foot down to the floor the entire time.
