Welcome to the second Lightroom Masterclass episode! This video will be all about Lightroom most powerful tool: Masks and how to use them. Understanding when and where to use Masks will improve your editing skills dramatically. This video will be very detailed so check the chapters to quickly navigate to the parts you’re interested in! In the first episode we talked about basic adjustments. Changing these sliders affected the whole photo. Lightroom’s mask feature however allows you to make precise adjustments to specific areas of your photo. Using a range of tools, you can create masks that target specific colors, tones, or areas of the image. This feature is particularly useful for landscape photography, where you might want to brighten or darken certain parts of the image, or selectively adjust the colors.

09:43 Why raise exposure rather than shadows? 11:15 Why raise exposure rather than whites? I think it is important to say when you explaining some techniques. Nevertheless, great series for the old Lr users and for the begginers. 👌

Thanks for your comment! It comes down to personal preferences. Raising the shadows in the first exampel you gave would give it a slightly different look which I personally didnt like that much

Thanks very much for your excellent work. Just a question....after changing the sky, i’ve a thin and bright line on the top of the mountain. How can i prevent this ?

This sadly happens from time to time with Lightroom masks since you cant really do advanced adjustments on them, BUT you cut try targeting the line with a luminance or color range mask

Danke. Obwohl ich dir weitestgehend auch auf Englisch folgen kann, frage ich mich trotzdem, warum es diese Videos nicht in deutscher Sprache gibt. Englische Tutorials gibt es eh schon wie Sand am Meer. Ich benutze LR auch mit den deutschen Bezeichnungen. So muss ich beim Zuhören immer umdenken. Es geht und deine Videos sind wirklich sehr gut, aber schade finde ich es dennoch.
