Please do a repeat of this video for the current LingQ 5.0 site. The way you present it is really good.

You describe my attitude towards Lingq precisely in the opening. I've been subscribed to Lingq for 3 years now, and often get inspired by someone to try it again. But each time I get frustrated, not with the mechanics, but the approach. Learning Russian with all the declinations and prefix modifiers, this creates a huge list of words that I "must" remember. When I heard Steve say "I don't use the flashcards" and "don't worry" about remembering, this was a game changer. I've been overwhelmed with this huge list of vocabulary but, like Steve mentioned, force feeding the brain does not work. So, today I begin anew, with the desire to simply understand what I am reading and letting the lingqs simply be a gentle reminder of the meaning.

Glad Steve's advice helped you with this, let us know how it goes with this new approach.

Love this proven effective method! They just need a better team to update the esthetic from iPhone 5 to 2022...

Great video. The title says it all for me. I’m going to give it another go after finding Lingq a bit overwhelming.

Interesting, thanks. I'm sticking to books and audio CDs for now. I have limited time and would rather use it learning a language than learning how to use a computer program.

The impotant thing is to do what works best for you.

I agree with what the lady says. But after long hesitation I have started using Lingq and recommend it very highly. In addition to all the functionality and enormous range of content, it makes language learning EASY! If you want to learn one language only, try a monthly sub. If you are hooked, buy the $200 lifelong (single language) sub. I've bought that for Russian. Good luck with your language 9s).

I just really wish that Lingq was smart enough to aggregate various forms of the same word. I often first encounter a word in some sort of conjugated form, and then I add that as a lingq, but I really wish that it would make a note of the root of the word (the infinitive or root noun or whatever) too. That's probably super hard though, so I totally get why it's not a feature.
@fi3m2 жыл бұрын
That really would be an incredible feature if they were able to integrate it.

Great video! I really like lingq, but it does require some knowledge about what's effective and some using it yourself to find your style. I also don't use the flashcards, and I wouldn't recommend anyone to do it. I also don't use the different shades of yellow, I just separate between learned and not yet learned. And one thing I can definitely recommend is using these hotkeys: B: go to the next blue word K: mark as known Arrow keys: go between blue and yellow words I really enjoy marking words as known, it's so satisfying, and the hotkeys make it a really fast process!

great video, LingQ does seems to advertise to complete beginners, I agree with you that's it's better for intermediate learners. Do you think it has value to offer for beginners? or its better to avoid it at the start of a new language? Thanks
@fi3m2 жыл бұрын
I think it would depend on which language you're learning. It would be more challenging with a language with a different script, but not impossible. Its power is definitely in it's import feature where you can add your own content to study with.

@@fi3m appreciate it! yeah that's my case: Im a native Spanish speaker, learning Greek. Perhaps it'd be a matter of translating every sentence at first?

I think 'une prof' there refers to just a teacher not a university professeur. You're unlikely to take conversation lessons with a professeur d'université. In French high schools teachers are just refered to as 'le/la prof'. Great video, by the way. I've been put off LingQ because it seems too complicated to use and the materials seem so random and I'd rather just find my own but maybe I'll go back and give it another go.

"Une prof, le prof" it's just a shorter way of saying "professeur". It doesn't matter which grade or school you go to : high school or university. It's like saying math instead of mathematic.

Yea the fact that you can bring in almost any material you want is one of the most incredible features of Lingq ! Give it another try!

is there a way to save the lessons that I read to the folder or something ? I know there is a playlist but what I want is to save them to a folder and review them when I want.

The thing with lingQ is that sometimes wrong meanings or many meanings and you don't know which you are reading about
@theredguy61478 ай бұрын
What I would do in this case is to see the sentence translation and choose the closest meaning to the word I don't know
