How To Use Liquitex Black Gesso to Prep your Canvas (Real Time, No Edits) by

Today I’ll show you how to prep your canvas with Liquitex Black Gesso.
Along with the gesso, I have a 16x20” canvas from a 5 qty value pack from Michael’s, some 1” blue Painter’s tape from the hardware store, a paper plate or palette or place to have a pile of paint, a cup of water to wash the brush, and a cheap old brush from an acrylic multipack set. *You DO NOT want to use your good oil brushes or get them wet with water*

I just got some Liquitex Black Gesso (Acrylic Medium) which I hope was the right one for an Aurora oil painting. If it dries within minutes, why do the directions say wait at least 24 hrs? Also, do you put a few coats depending on the subject or just 1?

I usually put 1 coat on and make sure it covers all the white. Then let it dry. Usually 10-20 mins Max. Once it's dry, you add your clear (bob Ross Liquid Clear or Linseed Oil blending medium) then under colors, and you'll be ready to go
