if you are asked on how shakespeare explores a certain theme e.g. love in othello, how would you apply literary critics?

Could you explain on how to use appropriate and judicious subject terminology?
@JenChan2 жыл бұрын
Hi there - using appropriate and judicious subject terminology basically means understanding the key literary techniques, then applying them to your analysis in accurate ad thoughtful ways. I have an entire playlist dedicated to literary terms, which you can check out here: kzbin.info/aero/PLhe5sjPdsN7YknlaJjWxYAf5UL-swL-VJ

Hi, love the video thank you! Is this technique good for gcse essays or is it more an a-level feature? xx
@JenChan2 жыл бұрын
Good question - incorporating secondary criticism is an advanced technique, so it's a requirement for A-Level / IB or even university-level English studies. That said, if students are able to demonstrate this skill at GCSE, then it'll be super impressive. Of course, whether or not you can score top grades would depend on how well you master the fundamentals (i.e. the AOs).

This is great !! Any chance you could do a video on your favourite Othello crit ?
@JenChan3 жыл бұрын
I will definitely consider doing this as a future video! Actually, Greenblatt and Smith are great for 'Othello', too (or for Shakespeare in general). But yes, let me do another one on another set of critics, perhaps... Thanks for watching :)

thankk youu . Where can i find critics for various texts such as poetry and an inspector calls?
@JenChan3 жыл бұрын
Hmm that's a bit broad - any specific type of poetry criticism you're after In any case, Christopher Ricks is a fantastic critic for poetry - check him out.

In your example almost the whole thing is about critics but I thought you said our essays shouldn’t be focused on the Literary criticism?
