Today I went manual focus on my G7 at f1.8 and it was constantly out of focus. Is it best to close the aperture, would that help?

Not sure as every situation (lighting, distance, lens quality, etc) can all affect this so lots of testing night be needed including things like aperture, shutter, iso, etc...

I was shooting a movie with my G7 yesterday and I was trying to make something similar to that scene in the forest with the log on the ground. I had MF turned on and put the focus field on the object near the lense and turned the focus ring, but instead it just turned the entire picture blurry. Have I set the camera wrong or is that not possible with the G7? Greetings from Lotasticland

Hey, this video was very helpful! I cannot tap the screen to choose a focus point but I can hold my finger on the screen and drag the box around. Any Idea why that's the case?

Glad it helped! I found dragging the focus box to be inconsistent as most of the times it would zoom in on area.

You could try using the Panasonic phone app to control from phone and I think there are some selfie sticks that might allow control from it although you'll have to do some research.

The yellow box on display for touch focus can be misleading. For instance, when you do portraits or photojournalism videos you quickly move the box to the eye of the subject (when racking) but what gets focussed is the nose and not the eye. You can make the box smaller but you are still a little uncertain. I come from sony handicam background 15 years ago where touch focussing was never a problem.

Yup that's true! Sometimes i thought for sure that the focus box was on my face however when I watched my video later, it wasn't focused there and things were blurry 😒

I'm using the Kit Lens so it's not the best if you need to manually get smooth follow focus or transition focus although that's an area that I'm still learning...
