Hi Amanda ..great tutorial ... Am painting an antique carved almirah in Annie Sloan s Chicago grey chalk paint ..i hv used clear wax n then gold gilding wax but the gold is not showing ..can I put metallic foil over the clear wax n gilding wax ..pl advise ..thanks

For the best bet, I would remove the wax first. You can do so with a rag and mineral spirits then go ahead and foil!

It can be! For the best adhesion, apply a layer of Jolie Matte Finish paint first

yes! We also recommend using General Finishes High Performance Topcoat in gloss. Keep in mind, you will probably want to use a water-based topcoat and you want something with a gloss finish.

The steps are paint then use Artisan Enhancements Pearl Plaster then Foil. You can use gilding wax in smaller, fine details and on the hardware

Sorry you were disappointed. This is NOT real gold leaf. This is gold foil, which is pressed mica powders.

It’s not real gold leaf. You can use real gold leaf if you want to spend the money but it tends to rub off if it’s on furniture that’s anything other than decorative. Foil is just harder wearing with a similar look.

I don’t think this is horrible , I think it’s pretty useful and a lot easier than the old method .
